YouTube Rewind 2016 is Out

This years Rewind is all over the place, it seems to be putting the rewind button, most of the time, as the main focus of the video instead of the creators and trends, a lot of the transitions between songs and scenes didn't feel smooth like in Rewind 2014 and 2015 (I watched them again to confirm my suspiciousness on this) and the trends they choose either don't really stand out or were boring to begin with. If the recent problems many YT (like H3H3) have complained about are actually by design, YT is definitely changing. If it's because incompetence, then it's the same ol' YT ;)

 

I think the most probable theory is that google's trying to convert YT into something more advertisement friendly in a way that benefits google. That's why things like engagement are becoming a bigger deal again; advertisers like engagement. Based on the past however it just results in a shitty experience for everyone (clickbait galore!).

Quick thoughts on system: I7 is extremely quick and I'm glad I spent the extra for hyper-threading. I regret my decision to get the GTX 970, it has horrible coil whine. There isn't any excuse for this terrible whine I and others are having. I HIGHLY recommend a 144hz monitor. Future Improvements/upgrades: Rubber fan mounts, basic speakers, more ram (for a total of 16gb), replace GPU.

144hz is love. 144hz is life. I like to submit unfinished posts then do about 20 edits. I like the Night Theme too.

YouTube REWIND: Puts in content creators that Youtube wishes that was Youtube; not actually youtube. Did you see what really happened on Youtube this year? Pewdiepie was only in it for a few seconds and he is youtube, but I don't think youtube like him.  Leafy or any other of the "cyber bullies" weren't on there, but guess what, they made a HUGE part of YT this year.

Google/Youtube have switched into the social justice gear instead of just being a platform for users, and because of that they become out of touch with their users.

 

This can be seen in their marketing videos for the Google Pixel/Google products as they use Youtube personalities who are politically left-leaning, pro-Clinton, social justice warriors, anti-white, etc.

I noticed they never include the channels like leafy, Idubz or keemstar who also have lots of subs and views (not that I want leafy there). YouTube rewind is basically just a collection of politically correct YouTube channels, not an actual representation of YouTube's community and the videos uploaded.

That feeling when you only know 14-15 out of the all the Youtubers featured. Gotta love how diverse the content is, though I would have been really surprised and happy if LTT was there.

Looked at the list of channels in the video, the only one I follow is Matpat/the Game Theorist.

Not even worth watching.
