CPU won't fold

IMO CPU folding isn't worth it anyway, compared to a GPU it gets almost no work done (my 980 got more work done in an hr than my 6800k did in a day).

I found out my problem, I specified to help Cancer research, when it seems Cancer research uses GPU only, by setting it to any disease, my CPU received WU for other diseases successfully and began work.

I can't get my CPU to start folding, although my GPU started just fine. Im looking to get my gaming PC up and running as well as my server for a day or two.

I think you should wait for AMD's next FinFET codenamed Origami.

What does that have anything to do with my CPU not folding?

Nothing. Trying to find a solution. I remember a user had this same issue.

If by what I can see the CPU is set at 11 threads.  F@H seems to have a high dislike for odd count.

Switch that to 10, 8, or 6.  Should then get work.

I couldn't find where to set threads when I looked yesterday. Also, even if it was set at 11 threads, its simply not starting any jobs, so the 11 threads aren't even doing anything.

I'm not home but should be in configuration and cpu then forced the number of cores instead of -1. In slots tab.

https://folding.stanford.edu/home/guide/configuration-guide/

Go to : Customize One Slot (Local setting)

You have 12 threads: i would do 6 cores then 4 cores (5 cores is weird but you can do it) Also, if you fold GPU let a cpu core alone so it can help the GPU.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Spoiler

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

You were right, I had to click on my CPU, then edit, I changed it to 12, the number updated to 12 threads, but it still just has my CPU sitting as ready.

Its a big project, how can it sit all night long and not get a single CPU WU? And I do have 44 threads of CPU power at my house I can utilize; That should get some worthwhile points would it not?

Just a comment, folding on my server actually gets 140k PPD, while my 390X gets around 300k PPD; CPUs cost me $150 and are a combined 230W TDP, while the 390X is like $300-350 rn and has 275W TDP. Worth it imo, definitely getting some significant work done.

Reminder that a 390x has terrible PPW, a Gtx 970 pulls upwards to 350kk PPD at a much lower power draw. They are also pretty cheap on the used market.

Not to say that CPUs are useless, that's totally not it. They are just nowhere near as efficient (+ you need mobo and RAM for them, whereas a GPU is a simple slap on any PC).

Mine wouldnt fold either. Found out the WU's arent being friendly with CPU's set to a prime #. mine was default -1 which made it run at 7. I changed it to 6, works great.

Also just FYI the new Nvidia 375 series drivers wont work either. IDK if thats just on pascal, but I know it stands true with Pascal. I Changed to the previous driverset, upon suggestion of a F@H moderator. And it fixed my GTX 1070 not folding issue.

If i'm repeating info already on here sorry,

Happens on other cards as well. Luckly, Nvidia is aware of the issue already and (hopefully) working on a fix.

Also, friendly reminder that you have over 100kk credits and can request your Gold Badge on the LTT forum, if you so desire.
