$199 for what is ultimately just a way to strap the phone to your face? No thanks, I'd rather buy Google Cardboard for less than $20.

Samsung on Friday announced that owners of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge can now officially order the Gear VR Innovator Edition headset online from either Samsung’s website or from BestBuy.com.

What technology is even in this? It's basically a piece of plastic with lenses that holds a phone. Not worth $200. Not even worth $20.

Since Gear VR is Samsung/Oculus project you can expect there to be some support that is what you pay for.

Yep, still too expensive. Just to be clear, the headset is not just a mount for your phone, it includes extra sensors for more accurate tracking. It needs to be at most 100 dollars for it to be taken seriously though. The BOM is probably like 10 dollars so their profit margins are insane.

But seriously? 200 American money dollars? For what is essentially a hunk of plastic with some sensors strapped on? Should cost around $50-$70. I could buy a 280x for the same price.
