Show off your sound cards

cab11150904

I don't know why but I've always liked the look of dedicated sound cards.  Lets see what you're using in your systems.  Also I know not much about them so an overview or your thoughts on your card would be great.

Not enough of an audiophile to have one. Not that anyone really needs a dedicated sound card with such amazing onboard audio in 2014 anyway.

don't have one. I think the Motherboard these days have a fine audio on board. Better than before at least

I love this card. Even if it is not entirely necessary I still love it.

I used to have an Audigy 4 with my 2008 Q6600 PC. When I got my 2013 PC, I felt the onboard sounded significantly better than my sound card. That's when it hit me just how far onboard sound has evolved. Today, onboard sound is more than enough (in a new mobo anyways) for most people... Some people want more power to drive a harder to drive headphone, maybe so, but in terms of noise, distortion, blah blah... It's very good.

I sold my STX and went Odac/O2.

I'm thinking of switching to an M2Face Hiface Evo and an 851C.

I used to own 2 o2's, 1 standalone and 1 combo with the odac. Sold them both and now running a Monoprice dac/amp. Nothing special but the brushed aluminum is pretty nice.

I don't really use my rigs for audio appreciation or music, that I reserve for my Marantz receiver and CD player.....though I'm thinking of hooking up my 4th rig to it to turn it into a HTPC. I can provide some pics of the cards within and without the rigs. Let me start off with my latest acquisition, a used X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion:

soundcard_zps868d5dda.jpg

Installed on my Asus Maximus II Formula.....pardon the rather bad image as I'd shot it thru the acrylic side panel which was a tad dirty and scratched.

Next up is the Asus Xonar Phoebus Solo, a shot of it just before I'd installed it in my 2nd rig. Note that on the 2nd pic below, you can see that I'd had to use a 6pin PCIe connector for it.

"Post your sound card"

First three posts are "I don't have one".

Yeah it's retarded but I ignore them and look for pictures. Some people have to come in even if they have nothing to say.
