lol. I rarely have enough money to spend on anime in general let alone doujins, which is funny because i pay for things like crunchyroll and still download my anime.

So I just discovered some property of Magnets I never knew existed.

I have a piece of metal along with two small neodymium magnets. Ofc the magnets have a north & south pole, each on a flat side.

If I have the magnets attached to the piece of metal with both poles facing the metal (i.e. North poles on both magnets are against the metal), the entire metal piece is magnetized and it can attach to things on it's own, as long as the magnets are on it.

If I flip one of the magnets so that one has the North pole down while the other has the South pole down, the metal isn't magnetized anymore and only the magnets actually stick to metal.

I mean really. That is cool. I don't remember ever learning about it.

I like how you call incest "vanilla". You're on your way down the slippery slope!

... u ... i remembr u.

quick guys, give me some really shit anime that are worth watching for background noise

Haiyore Nyaruko-san, BakaTest, Guilty Crown.

(oh this is gonna piss some people off who can't take a joke, isn't it?)

Yea sorry but you seem really bias. Its funny that you disregard noragami and seraph considering they are about as popular as any of the ones you mentioned back then if not more, and monogatari s2 was popluar , not owarimonogatari is not ? Pff , pretty sure whoever watched monogatari s2 is watching owarimonogatari now. Didn't even mention Haikyuu s2.

Well of course I'm biased. But I'm not the one disregarding those anime... who the heck is talking about them right now? Pretty much no one aside from a few bloggers who talk about a lot of anime anyway. It's all "One Punch Man" this season on the web hype machine. Yet even at the height of its popularity, Titan was just another anime that people were talking about. And what about Haikyuu? I'm not going to go out of my way to mention every anime people aren't talking about (perhaps the biggest one, but not nearly to this degree). It's not that I think they're "bad" anime or something - we're not discussing quality, we're discussing hype.

I know. Shitty slideshow site, but mute your browser tab and carry on. Some of it is kinda funny.

>got IPMI working on Debian.
>Java's package is called IcedTea... wut

Still kinda sad about loss of my /home. I worked hard to try and recover too. :( Oh well. All I can do now is rebuild.

Wat to do. Wat to do. I suppose customization of Debian KDE comes first. I'll use my image on flickr as a template for what I want. At least I have that.

Edit:

My cousin's car mutes the audio until she puts her seat belt on. ... genius.

Gargantia does indeed have a surprisingly sizable Western fandom, for a show aimed squarely at disenfranchised Japanese youth. It wasn't as huge as Titan by any means, but it was much more popular at the time than, say, Noragami is today. I have to go out of my way to find mentions of most anime airing these days, but I found mentions of Gargantia in the weirdest places way back when, even on sites that didn't usually mention anime.

Yes we are talking about hype and those series are as hyped and discussed as the one you mentioned , go around the anime forums and chats or release groups on the day of release of an episode and you will see who's discussing them.

Well of course if you go to specific forums for those shows you'll find people talking about them. I'm sure you can find fans for Mein Kampf if you want to, that doesn't mean that the greater Internet hype machine thinks they're anywhere near as big as One Punch Man right now.

Seriously, what is there? Noragami S2? Owarimonogatari? Seraph S2? Not really. Senpai is completely ignoring everything else, and it's not exactly stuff that stacks up to the stuff that aired back then. To be fair we're only through the first cour of OPM, but I don't see anything likely to "get hype" next season, either. I wouldn't be surprised if people are saying "OPM S2 when?" more than anything.

I'd say more about owarimonogatari, but I have no fucking clue what is happening anymore.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

It seem you even forgot what we were talking about. Nobody but you is comparing those shows hype with opm's hype , stop twisting my words.

What are you talking about? Re-read your original post that started our discussion: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/140001-anime-club-heaven-society/page-4154#entry6762730

I gave you several examples of stuff that could have been in Titan's place if Titan didn't air. You're free to disagree, of course, but that's not the same as me changing the subject. Railgun was hyped months in advance, as was OreImo. SNAFU has been over-analyzed to oblivion and back, and Gangantia generated serious discussion about its themes.

I'd say more about owarimonogatari, but I have no fucking clue what is happening anymore.

Now *that* is probably the most insightful comment about Owarimonogatari I've read in ages. I'll happily accept that as a reason why no one's talking about it (it's as valid a reason as why no one is talking about Concrete Revolutio, but I can't even delude myself that anyone cares about that anime compared to the Monogatari juggernaut).

It's weird, but it's slowly coming into place, and has a second season planned... so it might turn out ok if you're a fan of convoluted narrative approaches.

And I didn't say you changed the topic. I said you twisted my words , which you did:

you see in my post I never said anything about those shows hype comparing with OPMs in any way.

Ah, then I agree. Sorry, I'm drinking tonight. My bad for missing the point and being annoying. I don't agree that Seraph et al were hyped anywhere near as much as Railgun S2, though.

not really

circlejerking around one character I wouldn't consider to be hype. That's all the banter I ever see about it, leaving aside homosexual undertones.

I saw and (still see) a fair amount of discussion about Raildex.

take this at face value, I'm not following the discussion.

Thing is I don't remember railgun s2 being hyped at all , simply cause I avoided those topics so you might be right there. But I can see people hyping the adventures of misaka and friends cause reasons.

SnK and OPM are just following the formula to be easily enjoyed by people who watch and don't watch anime, making them popular. They have nice, smooth, eye pleasing animations/battles. Memorable and colorful characters.Short(as in 12 to 24 episodes) and fast paced.Simple dialog and story. And above all things they have about 0 fan-service meaning if you discuss it with a 3rd party and that 3rd party then googles the name it won't find anything questionable, thus its safe to discuss :D even if the season was stronger OPM was still gonna be hyped the same way.

Well, at this point I've realized I'm probably out of it, so I won't argue as much with my "I'm right because I'm old" tone. But I certainly remember a LOT more hype from all sorts of anime fans (and even non-anime fans) for the shows I mentioned, and not just for Titan. I'm not even judging the shows themselves, as (despite my words) I'm not the kind of person who actually "hates" them, I'm just the type of person who has a limited amount of time, and wants to make the most of it (for viewing anime).

Put it all together, and what I experienced back in those days was a very different atmosphere from today. And I do still look at all the same sources I used to, plus more - including Reddit, /a/, and a lot of others. I remember them discussing Titan, but a lot of other discussions about the other anime I've listed. To be blunt, I'll assume that I'm just "out of date" and the Internet has moved on, and is only discussing anime in their respective "bubbles of fandom" more than before. That way, what you say makes more sense to me, given what I recall, and what I see now.

As for "why" they're popular... that's a very complicated situation that depends on the era we're talking about. I don't think OPM would have been anywhere NEAR as popular back in the Railgun S2 days. But I don't think Railgun S2 would be as popular as OPM now. The only real difference is that I don't think as many shows are vying for attention now as there were back then, that's all. (I'll stop babbling now).

I was gonna do that and leave it running on medium while i was out of town but for some reason the middle power option still runs my pc at full throttle, so basically im stuck with max or min power

Gpu is either on or off. Cpu has 100 for full, ~90% for medium, ~50% for low. Full and medium will run gpu. Low just cpu.

Oh so that makes sense why i was pushing like 60% usage on low. Is there a way to run low on the cpu and anything on the gpu

Assault on Arkham was a great movie. I hated it, then loved it, within the first 5 minutes.

Reasons?

  1. Art style of The Boondocks.
  2. Delicious combination of adult themes & typical DC comics shenanigans. People are murdered. Body parts are removed. Blood is bathed in (literally). Sex is had (not on screen but definitely happening).

Jokes are made. Riddles are answered.
  3. Somehow realistic in terms of technology. At least as much as a DC movie can be. No "data chip" vague terms. Straight up: "He has a USB thumb drive. Get it." No magical star trek-y sounding stuff. Just a Nuclear Dirty Bomb. You get the idea.

Exceptions are strictly either "Batman" or "they didn't bother to hire someone to explain how it should have been", like, say, a helicopter cockpit, or, ya know, how special forces teams work.
  4. Puns. Magnificent puns. With just the right amount of pause after they are said to make it feel awkward. But the kind of Pun Awkward that's good.
  5. Characters are well written, in that they reflect what makes them enjoyable. Like, there are shitty versions of every DC character that no one likes. Then there are ones where they absolutely nail what makes the character enjoyable. This movie has those versions of mostly everyone. These are my favorites so far of all versions of the characters I've seen. Except the Joker. Nobody beats Batman: The Animated Series' Mark Hamill's Joker.

I really really really wish there was more of this. It was so enjoyable for a 1 hour & 15 minute movie. I highly recommend it. I think it rates higher than Flashpoint Paradox because of the characters. Don't get me wrong. There were flaws. But overall, totally worth it to watch.

One flaw was choreography or wtv of fight scenes. Unnecessary stuff. Basically not creative. Like, when the guy was writing it, he didn't write out a combat scenario involving Batman and some guys with guns. He just wrote "The guys shoot at Batman. <Insert Batman doing Batman stuff> Batman knocks them all out." That's how it felt some combat scenes were written. I forgive it for the characters tho.

One great thing I enjoyed is that things were intentional though. Like... Things don't just happen and leave you to assume. I don't know how to explain it without giving the exact example I'm thinking of, but that's a minor spoiler.

Why is that relevant? Well, she stated it and did it in a realistic manner. As opposed to her just walking out and having a button that closes the door and spews the gas simultaneously (a weird thing to have), or relying on someone to "just know" when to make that happen. She tells security who would obviously be watching her through the surveillance system in the facility.

Like, that combined with the logical technology (USB Drive, Dirty Bomb, as examples) feels very different from what I'm used to in DC comics and other super hero-y stuff. The need to always have mystery and super advanced technology seems too much to me, but I enjoyed this a lot for some reason.

Anyway, you guys get the idea. Now, I'm going to watch this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_League:_Gods_and_Monsters

Read the Plot. Just read it. The idea of an alternate universe where Superman is an illegal mexican immigrant is hilarious. I love the creativity some people come up with in Superhero origin stories. I mean, at some point, it becomes "well, there's a version of Superman for every type of human you could be", but until that actually happens, I love the Russian Superman, Mexican Immigrant Superman, and "Science Experiment" Superman (Flashpoint Paradox). Because it's a cool concept with it's own stories.

:D

At one point, Waller walks out of the room after talking to the Suicide Squad. She says "I'm clear. Gas them." to whoever is listening. So the door shuts and gas fills the room to knock the squad out.
