Do I need a "gaming mouse pad"?

Riziko

I have just stumbled across the coolest mouse mat I have ever seen, sadly it's sold out. But there is a similar one "v2" that can be pre-ordered now: https://dixiemech.store/products/gmk-redacted-deskmat?_pos=1&_sid=38db370ef&_ss=r

Now I have used for the past few years the Roccat Taito extended/wide mouse pad and it does the job. My question is, is that Dixie mouse pad going to be any different or is it the same thing

I play FPS games a lot

I'd just buy one of the $10 XXL desk mats and call it a day

What games or other software do you need to run?

Well the only reason why I am looking for a new one is cuz this one is a mess right now. I just thought that one looks really cool and it's 17$

I haven't used a mouse pad in years, only reason I could see you need one is to keep your wrist from getting raw rubbing against the desk. Other than that I don't think having one would have any major impact on my aim in FPS. It could just be the fact that I've really only gamed on desks made of wood, so perhaps other types of materials may benefit to having a mouse, beyond just ergonomics, and aesthetics.

A simple black pad is likely best for tracking, but it probably won't matter in 99.9% of cases if something is a different color.

I stumbled across a video a while back talking about, how mice today don't really need a mouse pad, it's all about how much sliding you want

I recommend a cloth mouse pad. It keeps the bottom clean and provides smoother motion. Other than that it doesn't really matter.

I have a Corsair RGB mousepad because I'm trashy like that, but it certainly doesn't help with gaming.

I think any decent mouse pad is fine, only those really cheap mouse pads that you get for a few bucks kinda suck because they will often break quickly and annoy you.

No as long as the surface the mouse is on tracks well or does not cause any drag feeling then there is no reason for a 'gaming' mouse pad.

I mean "gaming" as in RGB or a more premium mousepad which actually is of a higher quality. Depends how one interpret word gaming I guess.

So at least some decent one that is not among the cheapest and looking cheap. Aside from quality and durability, they can depend on the glide friction feel.

If you get a mouse mat it can help with sensitivity of the mouse I’ve noticed when I use a mouse mat so it doesn’t keep dragging against the table personally I use a tech net one just  for my mouse right now But I would most likely get a keyboard and mouse one in the future and would recommend getting one so you can move you mouse properly because sometimes I didn’t  use the mouse pad and my mouse felt like it wasn’t working properly So If I were you I would buy one it’s only £10-£20 and you can get a decent one for that sort of money not overpriced not cheap either somewhere in the middle for price and use
