Will 32 GB be future proof enough

I got an aventum x by digital storm coming. I play video games and music and all that jazz. Will 32 GB be future proof enough? Or should I spend the extra $400 for 64 gb

If gaming and listening to music is all the multi task you'll do you can live even with "just" 16gb.

Have you ever topped like 12..?

Most games use 5-6GB realistically, with some heavier titles getting up over 8 or so.

Really 16 is a gaming PC. 32 is for heavy production purposes.

Then use common logic, do you need more of something you're not using? unused memory is wasted memory.

You can spend your money elsewhere

You can easily add ram to the system and its cheaper than the upgrade price their charging it seems too.

i mean hell evven 8gb is still pretty okay, but for gamers 16gb is recommended.

i sold a rig a while ago with 16gb and the guy was worrried it wouldnt be enough but he's repeatedly come back for upgrades and routine maintenance and he says 16gb is more than he'll ever need. he does streaming with an elgato and has stuff like twitch, steam, discord, etc open while gaming too.

apologies about spelling mistakes I have a $1200 laptop with a $2 keyboard

Sorry about my spelling sometimes. My $1200 laptop has a $2 keyboard.

Yes, it's future-proof, and if you really need to upgrade, get a kit off of Amazon for wayyyyy less than $400

So my main uses are school, and gaming, some YouTube video and light editing.

I have a 2080 RTX TI, i9 9900k, —

Schooling usually has me with Microsoft word, and maybe 10-20 windows open for IE, google chrome.

I don’t know if 32Gb Will be “enough” for future proofing ... I know I’ve asked before but I keep getting told 64 GB is the better way to go. Then people say 32 GB is overkill and 64 is x2 the amount of overkill....

im fucking perplexed as to what I do.

You don't need 64gb for 'light' editing. 32gb will do just fine. I've just ordered 32gb for my zen2 build and I bought that because one or two games are getting fairly close to 16gb ram (Nothing too close though, it'll be 2 or 3 years yet before we see games surpassing 16gb) and I wanted it to last a while. 32gb should handle anything you throw at it for quite some time (Unless you're doing heavy editing). I'd get that.

You can see usage on Task Manager, but I'd argue unless the system is constantly swapping data in and out of RAM and the page file, it's not at the "extreme" level.
