Don't buy Gigabyte products. Never.

This is a post that is meant to show how low quality are Gigabyte's products. If you don't like rants, then don't complain, just get outta here.

 

About a year ago, I got a GTX 1050 GPU made by Gigabyte. It survived (under amazing conditions) for only about a week and a half after installed. It turns out the fan died, which caused a fatal overheat. After that, I bought a GTX 1060, but it was from Gigabyte, again. It worked for about a year, until today. It died in front of my eyes in the most spectacular fashion: the output glitched COMPLETELY, the computer restarted itself, and there was no display output, just pitch black darkness. A 250$ piece of equipment was destroyed in front of my eyes. It is MOST LIKELY that the GPU is dead. Whatever you do, NEVER EVER buy Gigabyte GPUs, no matter how attractive the price is! Think about quality before the price.

If you ask me this is either really bad luck or really bad luck. 

What model 1050 and 1060 out of curiosity?

how do you define "amazing conditions"? btw I have a Gigabyte RX 470 G1 gaming that mined for 10 months in less than ideal situation (in a dusty warehouse with a ton of companions) and it survived.

Every manufacturer has Products that break, it just happends. Doesn't mean everything they make is bad, just because Yours had a fault.

Just replaced my daily PC which had a Gigabyte motherboard, and after 6 years of daily use, it had been the most reliable hardware I have ever had. Never had a hickup With it. Even had 2 different Gigabyte GPUs too, never had problem. Have had Asus motherboards that have been unstable. But don't hold everything they make as bad for that. I just bought 2 New motherboard from them, With no problems this far.

 

Excange Your GPU With a New, you should get it replaced for free, and if that one has the same fault, then you can complain.

M8 u might want to reconsider how you treat your devices. The "ultra durable" branding has held true for me these past few years, very pleased by the gigabyte products I've used.

And besides, what happens when you try to claim the warranty? Certainly it is less agonizing than having to do it via MSI or Asus.

So this 1060 is verified dead from manufacturing failure?  You had a reputable repair shop look at it?

 

My 1080Ti had issues and Gigabyte replaced it under warranty.  They've done well by me, even if I wasn't happy the card has issues.

Your rant is woefully lacking in additional information that would help you.  Like environment, use case, other components, specifically what PSU, etc.  You don't even have proof the 1060 is even truly dead.

 

Also, my DS3 motherboard OC's my e4300 at 3.4GHz (stock is 1.8GHz) for 7 years prior.   Gotta say that's pretty good.

My shitty gigabyte ultra durable motherboard has survived for 5 years, my mini ITX gtx 960 has been in use for like 4 years and my brother still uses it, and my z390 aorus pro is amazing.

i have a gigabyte mobo in my pc, and the onboard audio has been broken for months. the audio will cut out every so often and then come back. it's super annoying.

I was thinking the same thing... 
I had a power supply go in spectacular fashion once. Transformer on our street blew and I got a nice loud BANG from inside my computer to find a whole burned through the PCB where one of the large caps were. 

 

A black screen is not spectacular fashion.

My first ever PC build I had a Gigabyte motherboard. Being so nervous, I stabbed it with my screwdriver. Must've just gotten lucky, but it still works to this day. You honestly just got a bad batch. Happens with everything. Want a good example of bad batches? Cheese. My father used to work in a deli. Sometimes the cheese they sold was really hard to separate when cut into slices, people complained it was the deli workers not cutting them right. As it turns out, it sticks together because the cheese is just dryer than normal. So at that deli, it's considered a bad batch of cheese when it's too dry. One batch could be too dry making it hard to separate, next one could be just right (tip, if your cheese won't separate with your fingers, use a butter knife and pry inbetween slices). If manufacturing was perfect, we'd never have defects. Yes, even a defective product can pas QC because it shows that it works just fine, when in reality it had a short life span for whatever manufacturing reason. But this is why we have many manufactures, so we have options.

I wouldn’t buy them regardless of how they perform. I put them with msi and Zotac. Would rather go without then getting them.

I'm on my second Gigabyte GPU now, never had any problems whatsoever. Before I had an EVGA GTX 950 which died in actual spectacular fashion though, there were sparks and even a bit of fire (without me overclocking or anything). I get that this is terribly frustrating but you can't really tell a brand's quality using a sample size of two whole products.
