I was expecting Linus would "hate" on $100 extra over used 1070/1070TI, when 30 FPS RTX is useless... ?

So basically what they have done is take their most sold GPU and ruined it by making it too expensive.

Like, if people wanted this kind of performance, they would have bought a 1070, but they didn't because whatever reason (price/performance isn't as good or it's just straight up too expensive). So if they take out the 1060 out of production, AMD is basically your only option if you want a gpu that's good enough for most people.

Actually it's not too bad, at $400ish it performs about the same as a 1070 TI at about the same price. So it's not a step up but it isn't a step backwards like some of the the other RTX cards (2080)

Its a XX60 card ,,  it SHOULD be more powerfull than its direct predecessor ..the 1060  (which it is)..thats the point of near series of cards to be more powerful lthan the last for the same price. ..however the price and the name (its placement in the lineup) dont match. So ..its too expensive.

if nvidia called it the 2070, then what u say would be correct, and so would the price ..but that would cause problems for the other cards.

The 2070 would be the 2080, and the 2080 would be the 2080ti ..their respective perofmance vs the 10 series is marginal at best.

Then they also have to call the 2080ti the Titan ..which is fine price wise.. but would then displace the current RTX Titan.

Long story short.. nivida fked up the naming and pricing scheme,, just so they could charge more ..becouse they can., and people are falling for it.

its called a 2060, and placed in that spot in Nvidias lineup ..so u compare it against the 1060 ..just like u compare the 1060 to the 960 and the 960 to the 760 and so on. As such ..the RTX 2060 is ovepriced.

Turing is a such a joke, nVidia is selling the same thing across the board that's the truth xD

RTX 2080 Ti, Priced like TITAN Xp and bit more performance than a Xp.

RTX 2080, priced like a 1080 Ti with about the same performance.

RTX 2060, priced like a 1070 with about the same performance.

This is how nVidia essentially is selling the same thing for the same price after years with Pascal on the shelves.

Dear me, that Battlefield V 1440P medium RTX test is a disaster, the 2070 is only 3 fps faster...

Results have to improve or else the future of RTX and ray-tracing is in jeopardy. Nvidia has to think long and hard about weather it is worth continuing this venture for the next generation.

The 2080 Ti probably already sold more than both TITAN XP and TITAN Xp together... but that is understandable because either TITANS were incredible bad value cards.

The TITAN XP is actually like 1% slower than the 1080 Ti and the Xp is in theory about 5% faster than the 1080 Ti but nVidia always crippled its performance due to the older Founders Edition cooler being a piece of garbage so good 1080 Ti's would outperform the Xp if you didn't go water block on it.

Then imagine you being an enthusiast that got something like a 980 Ti sli or a 1080 any thing already available for about 3 or even more years ago already and realistically never had a reason to upgrade yet because the performance just wasn't there... the 2080 Ti price tag was salty by all means but it was the very first product to offer a real performance bump not yet present on the market in years!

That is why it sold, Ray Tracing? I bet 80% of people who got it hasn't even used the Tensor Cores or the RT cores of the card yet.

I'm glad that Linus brought up the price differences between the 60 series cards over the years as I think it's important to take a look back at historical pricing of these cards. To go further, the GTX 1060 actually delivered GTX 980 class performance for $250. That was some incredible value. The best part is that due to the price increases of the RTX 2070 series and onward, Nvidia has the ability to say that the 2060 is a "value" card. It's only a "value" in the context of the new pricing scheme that they've pushed. I also like how the 1070 Ti was available for less than $400 for a few weeks prior to the 2060 launch, but has now gone back up to $450 to reinforce the 2060 price point as "value".

We still don't see many games with RTX features, and like it was pointed out in the video, DLSS locked at 4K for a 60 series card seems questionable for the future. The GTX 1160 could fill the more budget friendly gap, but that still won't address the current pricing issues with the 2070, 2080, and 2080 Ti.

The Battlefield V 4K graph at 3:35 doesn't make sense with the 25s there.

Looks like it was set to have the different steps of the chart give separate values, IE, the base 30 fps with no dlss, plus 25 gained from dlss, should have been output as 55fps with dlss but the output got screwed up.

Well i believe it's DOA but whatever,

If you want developers to invest time in it, it needs to appeal to at least a big part of the market and i just don't see that happening.

Looking at steam the most popular card is the 1060 by far, and the 1050ti and 1050 aren't doing bad either so that's what people want to spend on a new card. The 2060 is just too expensive and won't be bought by the masses. It will sell, but not in the same numbers as the other 3 cards.

Result is RTX cards will not have a massive marketshare, devs won't bother investing in it and it will die.

Also it's taking months so far and with a pathetic 2 games having support for RTX stuff isn't giving any confidence. I mean devs have troubles going to DX12 or Vulkan so why would they even bother about rtx stuff...

So my take on the video: Don't run out and buy a new GPU it's pointless keep your 2 year old 1070 device for the same price. Wow... Maybe in 2 more years I'll be able to buy another card for around $600 CAD with 30% more power...

Also that toll free number has been taken by these guys: https://icoolfan.weebly.com/ (I'm sure it's a joke site, tho I do wonder... How many people have actually asked about said product ?)

Depends on many factors, more specifics would be nice.

What games are you playing.
