Virgin Galactic Successfully reaches Space using Spaceplane

ThePD

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/12/13/virgin-galactic-flight-could-send-first-astronauts-to-edge-of-space.html

Virgin Galactic's space plane Unity became the first plane to successfully reach outer space. The plan reached 51.4 miles above Earth's surface. The United States Military and NASA declares outer space at 50 miles above the surface. For those that don't know. Blue Origin was made to try and provide tourists a way to outer space and was originally funded by Jeff Bezos in the early 2000's as a direct competitor to Virgin Galactic. The space planes success brings us one step closer to being able to take a trip to space and come back to Earth.

The pilots became the first astronauts working for Virgin Galactic. The company announced that tickets for a ride to space would range from about 200,000 to 250,000 USD.

Cool, just 10.6 miles higher and they’ll have actually gotten to outer space!

So, they launched something almost into space, before it dropped back down.

I am reminded of Kerbal Space Programm.

That is one of the first missions, before you get the tech to actually reach space. You try to get as high as possible and pray you reach it,... but can't quite do it.

Maybe next time they will actually reach space, and not just talk about it. ?

There's only been a couple of hundred people ever in Space. Now, for a fairly reasonable price, you can join them. That truly is amazing.

They could buy a yacht or a car or a number of rich people toys.

Or you know they could buy all of that and still have money left over... Rich people don't think in terms of "this or that" they get both.

Unless you're in Australia, where that'll get you a shitbox full of asbestos, or a out in the middle of literally fucking nowhere...or a 250ha farm. Yeah our housing doesn't make sense.

Rich people think differently. they'd buy it for fun

You can go on a normal plane and still be above the earth.

Neil DeGrass Tyson says its not space. Outter atmosphere, but people are amazed because fake news says its "space"

It is not space!

Like saying you are in the absolute middle of the USA

located at 39°50′N 98°35′W, about 2.6 miles (4.2 km) northwest of the center of Lebanon, Kansas, approximately 12 miles (19 km) south of the KansasNebraska border.

walking a mile and saying you are now in Australia.

You are not in Australia, nor are you in space.

Once Earth's gravity has no affect, then you can say you are in space because all the satellites, the space station are all falling towards earth all the time.

Also to see earth's full sphere, you need to be 525km away for a 135 degree view. Tough I doubt that because the space station is 200 and they dont see much,

View from Mars

Cant find no info on reduced earths influences from earth.

A space plane, is just skimming the earth, I agree with Neil DeGrass Tyson
