Need a alt OS that is not Linux, Windows or MACos

Considering trying Manjaro, TrueOS & ReactOS. Tough I am kinda worried since Manjaro is a Linux but the ones on the Forum said I should give it a shot. :s

Manjaro is my favorite distro but, it has problems with multiple displays. (For me)

Not sure if this is a problem if you have all your monitors connected to the same GPU but, in my case, I use the IGPU and the GPU.

It's still possible but, you have to use the "Free" drivers on Nvidia. Not sure about AMD.

I'm shocked Second life is still around. I never played it but, I've heard about it so many times through my life.

Is the really no better alternative to it?

Well damn, I don't know anyone who is a Linux savvy so, maybe ask around on Level1Tech forum.

 

They are kind of Linux focused.

AMD drivers are actually better. The issues are present when new hardware come out and distros like Ubuntu tend not to support kernel changes until the next version, so that may need updated kernel and Mesa drivers with a ppa. 

 

Also, when in the case of @ZacoAttaco where an r9 380 in Ubuntu uses the old radeon driver instead of the new amdgpu one for compatibility and stability reasons (not even true) that require tweaking, because both can run with that Gpu

 - your machine is 32-bit capable not 64-bit capable.

 

Ubuntu and most of the others have officially dropped 32-bit Support and THIS is probably your issue.

Acer (Aspire One) laptop never had issues, tough I tried using Android x86 on it and it spams me with the "Bluetooth have stopped" x.x

It was actually an R9 280 and yeah it’s weird. Not sure why sub-par drivers would be the default 

 

The flickering was a bad introduction to Ubuntu that’s for sure.

would think you lucky if you got android x86 to work on an aspire 1 honestly.

 

the last 2 i had running on one of those was Q4dos and  mxlinux, Q4dos was quicker, bu had an issue with the keyboard mapping for some reason.

Freebsd is Unix based, it's not Linux. But has a lot of the programs Linux has too. You can e.g. install gnome and have a full desktop environment. Also, PS4 uses freebsd, so technically you can use that.

Android has a steam app. Don't expect it to launch Windows games though.

Android is Linux. You can install something like linuxdeploy to run Linux apps.

oh you say you want something that isnt one of the big 3, well i would say reactos is too similar to windows, and BSD is too similar to linux since they are both UNIX and POSIX compliant, so i would say, TempleOS. 

Also for anyone who is saying things like chromeOS, android and steamOS, those are all linux. Also i dont see why you cant just use some form of linux, or some other POSIX compliant OS.

That has nothing to do, probably has a double GPU, you should need to boot with the second gpu disabled using those kernel parameters:

i915.modeset=1 nouveau.modeset=0 (disables the nvidia driver) 

Android doesn't use X.org, uses the Android own display server which is going to act crazy with non open source drivers or double gpu's

Have you given CloudReady a try? It's basically ChromeOS like on Chromebooks and it's amazing for low powered devices. It checks off a lot of the boxes on your list (unsure if you can install the Steam Link app on it or not).

I warmly recommend an illumos distribution (like OmniOS), the only free System V UNIX in existence.

I would suggest you try the non-free driver install mode on Manjaro and see if that works for you. I find Manjaro has a bit more support for older hardware in their live install image. If an older version of ubuntu worked for your machine, it means  linux kernal will work, just needs to be modified and recompiled with support for your hardware. To prevent the kernal from being bloated, support for really old hardware is removed in new versions but that doesn't mean it can't be added back in. If manjaro doesn't work for you, I would look into finding out what exactly is preventing the new version from working, if it's some kind of new driver, then look into manually adding the old version of that driver into the new kernal.
