To me the best move would be to keep your current set up upgrade that graphics card and possibly upgrade to 16gb of ram but if you want to play it cheap 8 is still plenty for gaming.

Thanks for the information, I just wanted to point out that ordering it off of steam doesn't make sense as they charge like $8 shipping. My local Gamestop did not have it in stock but they ordered it for me for the $4.99 and free shipping.

I don't foresee that pentium having any problems with what you are wanting the pc for especially at 1080p.

Honestly, I don't feel the 1050 is a big enough upgrade for the money. If, money is a conern I would save a big until you can get something bigger and badder.

to me 8gb is still plenty for gaming and I have yet to encounter an issue on either one of my rigs with that much ram but,  I'm sure as time goes on that will increase.

depends how much you would be willing to spend, why would you pay for a overclocking cpu and proper motherboard and not overclock?

This one here is the cheapest i could find for Canada at $239 after a mail in rebate if you don't mind doing those. I have never had a problem getting my rebates from evga.

You can try remounting the cooler to see if it improves temps afterwards since it it potentially not be even or apply enough pressure onto the CPU.

I don't have all the information but you can go into pcpartpicker.com and start a part list using what you have installed and what you are looking to upgrade too and will give you a idea where you stand on watts. Just remember you always want to keep some headroom.

From what I gather that cpu does support open GL but only 1.2. I'm not sure on Canadian prices but I think a GTX 750 TI would be towards the higher end of your price range and would be plenty of power for what you are doing.

I bought my 980 from B-stock about 4 months ago, and have had zero problems out of it. Can't even tell the thing was ever really used. The only thing I have noticed is a coil whine while running 3d mark, but have never encountered this during normal gaming. But, coil whine is possible even being brand new.

striker477 got a reaction from User1868 in Would a GTX 960 or 970 be compatible with my current PSU?
here it does say recommended power supply 500W but in fine print below that it says
"Recommendation is made based on PC configured with an Intel Core i7 3.2 GHz processor. Pre-built systems may requrie less power depending on system configuration."

With his current specs he listed he would be under the psu's 400W so why wouldn't his current set up work?
