Will more memory help an old CPU

So we all know when you load a game the cpu transfers the Game onto ram, but if you dont have enough ram. Later the CPU will ask the HDD to transfer data AND that will use your CPUs resources alot and then the cpu cant transfer the data from the ram to the video card.

 

So

 

IF you have more RAM the CPU can load the whole game to the RAM so the only thing it has to do is compute the game and transfer data to RAM

 

Am i right?

An SSD will do more than more RAM if you're not using all of the available RAM.

 

Edit: Not the whole game goes to RAM since the game has to cycle through needed items regardless.

It'll lower the latency and seek times allowing for less stutter or loading. What are your [hypothetical] system specs?

No. If anything when accessing data from the SSD CPU utilization might go even higher because now the CPU doesn't have to wait as long for a mechanical hard drive to respond to its requests.

Best investment, in my opinion, would be a total upgrade if you can. If you're on DDR2, you're likely still using SATA 1 or PATA. I would save some money for Skylake Pentium build and use the E4400 for a NAS device.

I think it would hold off on ssd and focus more on new mobo cpu and ram.

bahhhh drop $20ish dollars and grab a core2quad off ebay Q9400 has been doing me well and i think i got it for $25

What motherboard do you have? A Q6600 might help you more than anything short term. Then save your money for a Skylake build.

As above, jam a Core 2 Quad in it. Worked well for me before upgrading to an FX6300
