Yeah steam link honestly isn't that great. I have one and it needs work. Bluetooth doesn't even support controllers that connect, like it doesn't forward the input to pc half the time and it's useless unless you use wifi. Literally disconnected 5 times during a movie when the router and the pc were in the same room.

how effective is it under wifi only streaming 1440p 60?

It's bad on wifi. Wouldn't even stream 1600x900 at 60fps for me, it had stuttering and lag issues, even with the router in the same room as the pc & steam link. Use wired and it'll be fine.

it does suggest to use an Ethernet cable & the comments aren't that great on WiFi but it's $5 and you could just use a Power line Adapter.

please run a speed test and post a screenshot please, need some proof before spreading rumours it could just be your Internet.

$5 is a good price, but I'm not sure if I will benefit from it. What are the advantages of it and can I use it for other purposes besides Steam Link.

I did read it, but i'm having trouble justifying the purchase of one even if it's just $5 bucks. Now if I can use it for other purposes then it would be great, but I don't see myself using for other purposes. This is like usb type C. you don't see the need for it, but still want to have it.

I personally would use it for Single Player games just for the atmosphere or even Co-Op games when you have friends over etc (if you have any) it's just little things like that it might come in handy for or appeal to a certain type of person if you don't see the point in buying it then don't but I just think it's a "handy" gadget that has potential to be used for a lot of great things.

One problem, I don't have a large TV. Largest I have is a 19" LCD TV from Sharp. I'm sure lord Gaben didn't invent that Steam Link to be hooked up from a large monitor to a small TV. xD
