I like to keep price out of it, because value is never as simple as made out and small differences in how you measure performance, or what pricing is around at the time, can swing things wildly either way. We don't know RT performance of next gen cards and I think it will become a LOT more important than legacy performance.

8nm might not be that bad.  Or even bad. Or of course it could be awful. It’s just unknown.  What I worry most about with 8nm is I don’t know enough about fabs to know if having a design made to do on a different fab might make it have big problems, and I don’t know how customized the designs were before the went to Samsung.  It’s this gigantic might be a nothigburger night not thing.  Another weirdness is I don’t know how much Nvidia knows about the consoles.  One would assume AMD knows everything, but they also make a lot of money on those console chips and they may or may not have a deal in place to make sure the consoles have unassailable advantages over enthusiast cards. If they do AMD cards will be worthless, but if they do and Nvidia doesn’t have enough info to make a console beater card their cards may be worthless too. Or AMD doesn’t and Thor cards will kick ass. Or AMD doesn’t but they put everything they had into the console designs and don’t have any more in which case they won’t.   There are just too many unknowns.  Need someone to look at all three and take em apart and find out what is going on.

Just this morning I stumbled across Hardware Unboxed's latest video (Ryzen vs. Intel for Ampere review) and in this video they benchmarked current games at 1080p, 1440p and 4k on both 3950x and 10900K. There was like a ~2-3% performance gain with the 3950X @ 4k IIRC. I'll add the link to the video later when I'm home.

I'm sure there's better sources, but as I just watched the video this morning I thought I'd reply ❤️

Big oof, but thanks a ton for pointing that out - I was so caught up in the details that I didn't even bother to check.

I have a Kingston HyperX RGB kit that is 4000. It comes with 4000 and 3600 XMP profiles. In my testing, on both Intel and AMD systems, the performance was higher at 3600 profile than 4000.

I don't know if the Corsair would also have a lower XMP profile, but in principle you could manually do the same, but it does seem like more work that it is worth.

You can do those things, but realistically you could also overclock a 3600 MT/s kit, or tighten a 3600 MT/s kit if you wanted to.

possible? yes? at what timings? we can't really know, these are most likely using rev e dies meaning they're good for high frequencies  and kind of loose timings.
but why not a  3600 cl16 kit? are you limited to these? because a 3600 cl16 ripjaws kit for example, can go for cheap.

i dont know much about lighting despite having icue and an asus board lol, but i do know about the ram. i have the 2x16gb trident rgb kit, not the neos, but theyre the same ICs afaik. definitely b die and they took the recommended timings from ryzen dram calc without a hitch. i also prefer how they look but thats subjective. the tridents would offer much better timings and thus performance than the corsairs. that being said it really doesnt matter in most cases, aside from certain memory intensive workloads. 3200c16 would be fine and in said workloads wouldn't be too bad of a limiter.

This is probably correct, it wouldn't make much sense for Micron to try to find GPUs with the exact memory configuration when the objective is to give a example on where that memory was/can be used, also because probably there isn't always a GPU that maxes out the possible memory configuration in every way.

I still have a copy of the document locally and had another look. Actually in that column both it lists both Titan RTX and RX5700 XT as 12GB. How can this be?

Thinking more, where it names the product, it says "Application Type (Example)". And for the VRAM it says "Frame Buffer of Typical System". On further thought, maybe they are using the product names as an example of products using that technology, and a typical configuration, but not necessarily the actual configuration. If so, this would explain the apparent error that would otherwise be present, and also brings some life back into the higher VRAM rumours still floating around.

Good decision to delay Halo - at least to ensure they get it right. People weren‘t really happy so far with the biggest and best halo yet.

For the launch of the console it‘s obviously going to be really bad. It‘s supposed to be their console seller and people are even less incentivized to get an xbox series x now.

It‘s going to be interesting to see how the two different approaches from Sony and Microsoft will do this generation.

The 1080Ti was and still is a damn beast.
Playing Metro Exodus with DXR was amazing visually, but the performance hit just makes it not viable in other more fast-paced titles, so I'm really not getting my hopes up when it comes to Cyberpunk. I'm really excited to see how much RT performance improves this generation though.

I‘m waiting for the PG329Q as well. I just hope it‘ll be available later this year in Europe.

I was initially eyeing the PG35VQ but since I picked up streaming ultrawide won‘t work for me anymore - BUT the delay on the PG35VQ was a pain. Let‘s hope the PG329Q releases on schedule.

@Scorpsk I'd go for any of these cases, they're white and have mesh front panels for high airflow and tempered glass, a few have RGB but it's just the fans which can be turned off or set to a static color like white for better aesthetic.

I would wait a couple more months if you’re looking for more than 144Hz.

There are 1440p 240Hz monitors & soon to be IPS versions.

Also if you play competitively, then it’s worth waiting & seeing.

The monitor you linked is very good, however, unless the HDR is rated 800/1000, it’s not worth turning it on as it wouldn’t be HDR due to such low brightness.
