I mean... It should be. The S8 is 7 years old.
It will also feel faster because of the high refresh rate screen.

I'm not sure if I'm correct on this but according to this picture:

You might be in luck because if I'm right it's a VCC pin which there are enough of.

But I don't know for sure!

I had to rma my ASRock card due to high temps. 100c (and climbing) memory and 110c on the hotspot. So you might want to keep an eye on your temps.

I don't think it's a bad card and I hope I just had a bad example. Replacement will be arriving soon.

Both 1151 yes. But 100 and 200 series chipsets only support v1 (6000 and 7000) while you would need 300 or 400 series chipsets to be able to use v2 (8000 and 9000).
    Great invention from intel 🙂

    Crap i made a mistake... 400 is lga1200... but i think 300 is still 1151 and needed for 8000 and 9000...

I found this on wikipedia: (maybe not the best source)
The LGA 1151 socket was revised for the Coffee Lake generation CPUs and comes along with the Intel 300-series chipsets.[8] While physical dimensions remain unchanged, the updated socket re-assigns some reserved pins, adding power and ground lines to support the requirements of 6-core CPUs. The new socket also relocates the processor detection pin, breaking compatibility with earlier processors and motherboards. As a result, desktop Coffee Lake CPUs are not compatible with the 100 (original Skylake) and 200 (Kaby Lake) series chipsets.[9] Similarly, 300 series chipsets only support Coffee Lake and are not compatible with Skylake and Kaby Lake CPUs.

I don't think it's possible to fix because it is the power part of the connector. I think there is (way) more damage to the card than what you see. Probably defective chips aswell.

Forfaxify got a reaction from Darkroe in Would a Ryzen 5 1400 still work on a b450 motherboard?
In my experience its the cpu that has trouble with ram. I have an MSI b350m mortar that would not play nice with a 1600 and 2400g (both first gen) but it has been running a 2600 without any issues on 3000mhz dual channel ram.

What motherboard does your friend have exactly? It might be more expensive, but maybe it's better to get a 2000 or 3000 series cpu. 1000 series has tons of ram issues.

If you want to go 4k60 then the 3600 should be great. When pushing that many pixels the gpu will have the most work do so i dont think your cpu will be any problem. If you want higher fps (say 120) then you might consider upgrading to something else, though driving 4k120 is not really possible with any gpu.

A few days ago i messed around with my old FX8350, and overclocked it to 4.6ghz with a prism cooler. The cpu was pulling 250watts. But the prism kept it cool enough. Being a bit loud is the only drawback id say. I think youre fine with the prism 🙂

I just ordered the TXM 550W better safe than snap crackle pop

I did decide to cancel the order for the Corsair as it was back-ordered and would have delayed my build. I switched to a cheaper model and ended up with the EVGA 600w bronze for around $60. I have had really good luck with EVGA power supplies in the past few years and seen Linus himself has been using them in his budget builds also

Forfaxify got a reaction from Quader199 in Thoughts on Cooler Master NR400 Case?
Its one of my most favorite cases. Its easy to build in, cable management is decent, build quality is great for the price. The only thing i personally dont like is the stripe from top tot bottom at the front. I bought 3 RGB fans but the right side gets blocked a little, but other than that its a great case. (I have without odd)
