I can wait. I will do overclocking and hardcore gaming. I only want to know which one of those two cpu should I go. I don't have any budget.

To be honest it sounds like Intel would suit you better.

Both are highly unnecessary for gaming. I don't normally say this, but if you want overclocking and hardcore gaming, get a 10900k

Buy based on what suits your needs. In this case intel sounds like the better option.

Yeah, you asked whether you should buy a 3950X or wait for a 4950X. Both are pointless for gaming, and are in diminshing returns territory because (at least in the case of the 3950X) you'd be looking at lower clock speeds because of the much larger core count.

If you want to buy now, then I replied to your question in my previous reply.

If you can wait, then wait and get a Zen 3 6 or 8-core part.

You don't need a 3959x for gaming.

A 3600xt has better silicon. Will overclock better and will perform identically in gaming.

you are aware that the 4950x will be released a long time from now. it's not like it's going to be out next month.

the 3950x was released the nov 2019, so i'm sure the 4950x will be 2021 stuff

Some YT videos do not count as proof.

Where has AMD said that

1. There will be a 4950x?

2. That if it exists, it will have 18 cores?

When I did research, a ton of websites said that the 4900x would have 14 cores 28 threads and the 4950x will have 18 cores and 36 threads

You have still not answered my question.

‘A ton of websites’ is not AMD. Hell, why doesn’t this whole forum say that the 4950x will have 128 cores and 256 threads, and will cost $100. Then, going by your logic that is true.

Leaks already should always be taken with a grain of salt, rumours however hold little to no value in reality.

Anyone could go out and make a video right now saying that the "4950XT+ Pro will have 128 cores at a $100 MSRP and oh yes I've got my sources", for instance.

Looking this up I found a total of zero websites suggesting such a thing.

Well. We can't know for sure. You could be right but at the same time. The reason why the 3950x was delayed us because zen 2 was still a new architecture.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but they are exactly like Intel:

1. They are a publicly traded company.

2. They both produce computer hardware

3. they both produce x86 desktop processors.

Adding 2 cores to their top end part...just like intel then. Your best to either way and not speculate, or buy a good part now. Either way, 18 cores is obscenely overkill for gaming and a waste of money
