Should I get a 5600X or 10600K?

redcan0

Hey everyone,

I could etiher get a 5600x + B550-A Pro + Wraith Prism or a 10600K + Z490 Gaming X + Raijintek EOS 360mm aio?
Also, the AMD option is 40$ cheaper
I kind of want an AIO for looks but if its worth sacrificing for a 5600X than ill do it.

The GPU is not decided yet but it will probably be a RTX 3060 or 1080 Ti
Which choice above would be better for a gamer? Thanks.

Will the Wraith Prism be enough for 5600x?

I would upgrade the cooler. But you can start with wraith prism if you want to.

CPU: Ryzen 5800X3D | Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 Elite V2 | RAM: G.Skill Aegis 2x16gb 3200 @3600mhz | PSU: EVGA SuperNova 750 G3 | Monitor: LG 27GL850-B , Samsung C27HG70 |
GPU: Red Devil RX 7900XT | Sound: Odac + Fiio E09K | Case: Fractal Design R6 TG Blackout |Storage: MP510 960gb and 860 Evo 500gb | Cooling: CPU: Noctua NH-D15 with one fan

FS in Denmark/EU:

Asus Dual GTX 1060 3GB. Used maximum 4 months total. Looks like new. Card never opened. Give me a price.

I don't really plan on upgrading it. Thw whole point of me getting a Prism is brcause it looks very nice and kind of makes up for an AIO. The more expensive tower coolers look very ugly.

Okay then go for the prism, you can always change it down the road to an aio or something.

To some extend yes, it's enough. Don't be harsh on the overclocking.

I suggest getting a cheap Hyper 212, that should be enough to cool it.

Got my 2600 4 ghz never went 80c.
Im running cinebench only tops 58c.

I got a Wraith Prism for my 3600 for the exact same reason. AIOs were expensive and tower coolers were ugly. The Wraith Prism has more than enough TDP rating to cool the 5600x iirc. I'd just recommend buying one from the official AMD Amazon page because if you buy one off ebay like I did and then it fails for some reason, it will be much harder to replace or refund, even if it is a bit more expensive.

I don't need to overclock it. However, I currently already have a 5600X and a 360mm AIO on another build and it boosts up to 4650 MHz in games.

Now am I going to buy a 5600X again for my other build would it boost to 4650 MHz with the Prism as well? Do you have any idea?

A few days ago i messed around with my old FX8350, and overclocked it to 4.6ghz with a prism cooler. The cpu was pulling 250watts. But the prism kept it cool enough. Being a bit loud is the only drawback id say. I think youre fine with the prism 🙂

Yeah why not, i assume you already got the prism. I think the prism is more than enough to boost it at least 4.6.

I wouldn't get either until you can get your hands on a GPU.

It's probable that of you get any CPU now, by the time you manage to score a GPU there will be better CPU options available or at least better prices.

Here where I reside even 10700K(F) costs less than Ryzen 5600X

5600X is great for now, till 11600k or 11700k release.

I edit my posts more often than not

I see, then get the best one you can afford IMO if you intend on upgrading soon.

I interpreted the post in that you were not sure which one you were going to buy.
