I just inspected them all and I cant see anything. (other than me being rough with the edges. But if you buy the correct tools off ebay and be gentle and use the correct techniques you can debezel them and leave no marks. It doesnt bother me because I will keep these monitors for a long time. I might even buy 2 more and change from Sli GTX titans to AMD quadfire 8970's (if they are good) 5x1 eyefinity protrait would be the ultimate!

Jeez it's been a while since I logged into Linus Tech, sorry it's been so long between so long, but between exams, a two week holiday with no internet and then 2 website crashes when I've gone to  update, it's been a bit mad. I hope the amount of progress (I bring pics ) that I've done makes up for it!

For starters i removed the horrible front panel, cleaned up the window and removed the hard-drives / optical drive stack. I decided to flip the case upside down (psu at the bottom) primarily for the aesthetic, but also to help with the stability of the case. With that out of the way  I decided to put all optical drive, hard drive and ssd at the bottom of the case with the psu. I've cut down the hard drive stack so its inline with the psu, then reattached it with pop rivets.

The next step was to cut out a piece of acrylic to test the two paints I'm using, Rustoleum - Satin Black & White Knight - Metal Guard Brass. Here's the pics of the during and after shots:

The next stage was to cut an acrylic cover to go over the psu, optical drive, hdd and ssd. This was remarkably easy to cut and only required a basic hacksaw. After measuring and checking it fitted I painted the rest of the case (minus the sides), which I was in the middle of doing when I ran out of paint. Here's a few pics of the painted case and the shelf, the side of the shelf is reflective as I removed the plastic cover to see what the finished piece would look like.

The most recent step has been the cutting and mounting of the window and the custom front. The window was mounted with careful planning, a big drill and prayers . The bolts had to be cut shorter for both parts and a particularly complex frame had to be made out of firewood and g-clamps for support during the drilling stage.
The front was carefully cut over the process of two days using an angle grinder and spending a lot of time sanding / filing the rough edges back by hand. After cutting a fair bit of copper pipe to 2 cm lengths and drilling the holes in the case and the panel I got the front panel mounted *phew. Sorry about the lens flares it was a pretty bright day and I was going on a run so couldn't stick around. Please bear in mind that the bolts aren't tightened, this was just to give an idea of what it would look like:

I intend to paint the front as well as construct a new top panel and sides for the roof of the case (which is why the front panel is to tall for the case currently) I haven't yet painted the acrylic shelf and would like to get your thoughts on it. Beyond that I have to paint the copper pipers brass, cut out the optical drive slot, install dust filters and drill / attach mounting points for the fans on the front and roof of the case. I hope to create a custom mobo shield and gpu back plate at a later date but currently I'm just working towards getting my PC into its shiny new case. I hope to do some more work over the upcoming weekend but with school starting on the Friday I may not be able to get anything done.

    Thanks for reading

Ubisoft at this point should just shut up. Properly optimise and perfect their games and release them without too much PR and marketing. People already have them under microscope criticising their every move. They don't need anymore attention.
They just need to focus on making better games and removing the crappy Uplay.
The games will speak for themselves if they are done right.

Any of the grey noctua line (can't remember there name) are very good when it comes to sound and cooling but they do come at a premium. Also as I'm sure you're aware your apu gaming performance is influenced heavily by the speed of the ram you're using. But I'm guessing that's not very important to you. I've got my HTPC setup with the media on one pair of raid 1 HDD and another pair acting as NAS. This gives me the security that if one drive fails the other will still have the data. Also depending on your media (bluray / DVD) and the amount of it, you may need more than 1 tb of storage. For every dvd expect to use up 1.5gb for bluray around 4gb or more. The only other thing I'd recommend is a custom cooler for the apu as they get HOT. I use an a10 5800k with a hyper 212 evo and my APU never goes over 50° C but I've heard horror stories of peoples APU's dyeing from overheating with the stock cooler.

Technically I think black flag overall, for the great ship combat, and tons of variety

best setting probably AC2, that game was just totally solid throughout, great story, great city design, characters etc

My most memorable AC1 - just because... it was so different when it came out. also Altair is a boss!

Best future storyline, AC3, being able to do shit as desmond was awesome ... game was meh though

Overall though, I had a different idea of where I wish AC ended up, and it has totally gone against what I wish happened

Ubisoft is the perfect poster child of modern capitalism. They take your money, they screw you over, they make empty promises, they screw you over again, they force micro transactions to get more money from you, they make more empty promises and maybe give some empty apology for screwing you over, then people still buy their games regardless, repeat cycle again.
Heck, I can't believe people are still pre-ordering!

Heh, maybe we should convince our console cousins to join us in this fight for non-crappy games.

I guess technically the rest of my family as I convinced them that a HTPC will make life easier. Its also good for gaming so my sister uses it when she wants to game and we all use it to watch TV, movies, music, photos and rendering. (My PC and the HTPC are the only computers in the house that were purchased after 2004). I also convinced my dad to get to an AOC U3477pqu after using a 1200 x 900 monitor for 15 years. (He was complaining about having no real estate and was considering a multi monitor setup until I introduced him to 21 : 9). He loves it and I'm now insanely jealous about how awesome it looks. Now I'm more or less the go to person for tech in my entire family. A bit irritating but I've managed to stop a few scams and impulse purchases so all good I guess.

I loved my PS1 but I didn't have many games on it. So I'll say my PS2 which I'm still play on. My favourite games would be
    Midnight Club 3
    Star Wars Battlefront II
    Burnout 2
and some motorcycle game that had ridiculous crash animations that I may or less played for the laughs of watching your friend unable to turn quick enough hitting a wall and doing somersaults for 50 meters

Hey, I think I may have found the solution check out this link: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2316322
    Here's the fix:
"I believe "Failed to find Steam" happens because the game makes incorrect assumptions about the location of Steam, only looking in the default location for a 32-bit Windows machine:
    C:\Program Files\steam
If you have 64-bit Windows or have chosen a custom location, the game will "fail to find Steam" because it's only looking in that location.
Users of 64-bit Windows have Steam located here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\steam
The solution is to add your Steam location to your path. I would love to give thanks to the thread that showed me this solution but it took the mods a day to activate me, and I've lost the link.
Here's how to fix it -without- using copy protection disabling hacked .exe files:
1: Right-click on "Computer" (in XP it was called "My Computer") and click on Properties.
2: in Vista / 7, on the left click on "Advanced System Settings". On XP, Google search for how to change your system path, because I can't quite remember where things were in XP.
3: In the Advanced tab, you'll see a button for "Environment Variables". Click it.
4: In the upper section of that new window, you should see something like "User Variables for [your username]". Scroll through to find the one called "PATH".
5: Highlight the entry for "PATH" and click "Edit...".
6: You'll get a too-small text box that has a field on the top for "Variable Name" and a field under it for "Variable Value". Put your cursor into the "Variable Value" field and hit the [End] key so you know you're not inserting text in the middle of another entry. If you push the right arrow key it should not scroll.
7: Add a semicolon [;] to separate your new entry from the others. This is the key to the right of the 'L' key, without pressing Shift.
    Correct -> ;
    Incorrect -> :
8: Paste in the path to Steam, which for me on a default-install Windows 7 64 system is:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
9: Press OK, and re-launch Steam so that it gets the new environment variables. (It might work without re-launching, but hey why not.)
    10: Run the game normally!"

Philip Pullmans - His Dark Materials is superb. Terry Pratchett's discworld or Long Earth (cowritten with Stephen Baxter) series are brilliant. Also if you haven't already try - The Hitch Hikers guide to the galaxy series. The movie really doesn't do it justice. Finally, The Time Machine and War of the Worlds are classics that are still excellent to read today.
