Guys, I need help (applying for a job)

DaRk0

Hi LTT community,

Before I ask for your help, I need to mention I never worked in the IT industry. I am working as a freelance web developer here and there and I build and maintain PCs for my customers, but I never worked in the company before (mainly because I'm young and still learning).

So I applied for a job in the Slovakia based IT company (support specialist). This is not my dream job of course, but main goal is to move from my country to Slovakia and start to work there, get some additional education and so on... I got a reply from a manager telling me that candidates will be selected for a job interview after answering one question, which is:

How would you explain to a child what a "cookie" is?

I have couple of ideas, but I would like to hear you guys and girls as well.

I'm off to bed since it's 5 A.M. here, but I'll stop by afternoon. Get creative, laugh at me, have fun.. whatever suits you. :D

You don't explain what a cookie is you just give it to them. Cause they don't care they just want the cookie

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

My first thought:
"Well, it's round, sweet, and delicious."

My second thought:
"I'm an idiot and would be rejected."

My third thought:
"A cookie is something a website uses to know who you are. It's like a name tag. Kinda."

For my pertinent links to guides, reviews, and anything similar, go here, and look under the spoiler labeled such. A brief history of Unix and it's relation to OS X by Builder.

  • something which leave the crumb trails behind..
  • something  which get stuck between your teeth even after you finish eating ..
  • it's a lie..
  • is like a real cookie but doesn't need baking
  • something that's made specially just for your taste..
  • it's a gift from the website just for you for visiting..because you're so special..& to remember you by next time you visit

Hope this one gets you a job & i'm gonna need my cookie from you   :P

Details separate people.

Having posted my humorous answer, I would say to a child:

"An internet cookie is something that a website stores on your computer to let it remember who you are and any information about you that is useful for that website, so it's like swiping an ID card when you enter the website. This means that you can be logged in to a website automatically, if the website is a flash game it can remember where you were up to in the game, and stuff like that."

Of course the description varies a bit depending on how old the child is. Like I think most 6-10 year olds could probably understand that if they're mildly computer literate, but if you're talking about a 3-5 year old they may not... IDK.
