Debezelled Monitor & Portrait Surround/Eyefinity

Hi people,

I would like to share the video i made on how to debezel and mount the VG248QE in portrait surround/eyefinity.
Surely this technique can be adapted for other monitors. Hopefully this thread will inspire others to give it a go.
If you have debezelled monitors please share the love and show us your setup too!

It is so easy man! I was worried too and I done it to these monitors the day I bought them and they cost a total of $1499 in Australia. We totally get price gouged in Oz!

It does look fun, but right now I have my monitors on two dual lcd clamp arm things, and I like it. I have old 4:3 monitors that I may try it on for fun just because it looks very cool!

How much of the bezel did you actually lose, looking at your post it just seems like you tore of the back.

In original state, the vg248qe bezel is 17mm on 3 sides (top, left, right) and 21mm on the bottom bezel. When debezelled they are 9mm all the way round. Some monitors like a few of Samsungs 120hz range are only 4mm when debezelled.

Does this void the warranty or could you just put it back toether without any trouble? I didn't see any seal getting broken so I don't see how they could find out that it was taken apart.

I just inspected them all and I cant see anything. (other than me being rough with the edges. But if you buy the correct tools off ebay and be gentle and use the correct techniques you can debezel them and leave no marks. It doesnt bother me because I will keep these monitors for a long time. I might even buy 2 more and change from Sli GTX titans to AMD quadfire 8970's (if they are good) 5x1 eyefinity protrait would be the ultimate!

Dont you think that using

dsided tape to attach the panels is kind risky?

You can use glue but the other people that have done it are yet to divoldge what they used. Also using doublesided tape is fine and will last years as long as you have the bottom of the monitor resting on the base. Also using tape allows you to send the monitor back to the manufacturer in case of a warranty issue.

Using Glue to secure monitors for mounting

No matter what type of glue you use leave the monitors in a position that will allow gravity to squish them together. Do not disturb or test the bond whilst its setting and leave them for at least 24 hours in that position. Even if it says 2 hours for full cure! Some glues can take upto a week to set! read the label and add a couple of hours. I heard someone used a hot glue gun on these babys but I cant recommend that yet till i see some of my results. I don't know how that would go??? But something like SIKAFLEX or some other high strength builders epoxy resin that needs a corking gun to used would be Ideal.
Once again make sure you read the instructions on the glue because each one is different. I would also recommend roughing up any areas where glue will go between with course sand paper. Also clean with a suitable primer recommend by the glue manufacturer. I'm sorry I've been slack with this I have all the different glues and I'm yet to do trial tests with them. I will be back in 3 weeks and be able to finish this. All this only really applys to people that want to mount their Monitors in landscape surround. For the mean time you could rest them against the stand and use the double sided tape method till I get back and can confirm which is the best glue.

so cool but isn't the panel more likely to get damaged if you do that because i know lcd panels are very fragile
