I know I've been gone a hot minute but I'm back! A lot has changed in my life while I was gone from the forums, but that's a topic for another day.

For today, we've got a commodore 64 with matching monitor and disk drive , even have a joystick to go with it, But they're not in the best of shape at the moment...

I figured I'd make this a bit of a repair log, and post updates here as I make progress. Here's what we're working with currently:

The cats seem to be quite amused by the lot:

This is all well within my realm of insanity to get working again. I've even got a fully working C64 I can test chips in.

Stay tuned for updates! I go back to work wednesday night so progress will be halted until sunday evening rolls around, but I'll try to make some progress on the lot tonight, starting with the monitor.

Update 1: Monitor works outstandingly well!
    Next up is the C64!

Not fake, real diamonds. Early 1900's diamonds didn't have much value at all and other coloured gem stones garnered far higher prices. De Beers went around and brought up all the diamond mines and mining rights and the international distribution then massively restricted the market. But the real genius was what he did after that, to date the most effective advertising campaign ever unlikely to be surpassed, "Diamonds are forever". He and is advertising team managed to associate diamonds with love and marriage while at the same time convincing everyone that they are extremely rare therefore precious and expensive. Diamonds are about as rare as coal (ok more so but not much more lol).

As to the topic I wonder how hard it will be to actually apply this to fabrication of super conductors and other applicable uses in industry. Maybe it possible to grow the diamonds in a prestress state somehow which might make larger scale manufacturing possible???

Scientists have been working with diamonds to test to see if they can be stretched and state that the heat and electrical conductivity would make them an ideal fit for Quantum QBits and or photons.

    My thoughts
The article leaves out several important details and items. For starters you will notice that the picture shows a scale of 500nm with the strands about half that matching it to about Pentium II level transistor size, they do state in the article that it was about 100nm which would put it somewhere in the Pentium III to Pentium M size. That begs the question as to how exactly they got the diamonds to that size, acid, high energy? Also, previously it was shown that diamonds were not exactly electrically as conductive as silicon as silicon is doped with either more or less electron atoms (N , and P type doping). This might just be purely for research purposes but given the current climate it would make sense for researchers to keep these details close to their chest as knowledge of a new way to manufacture chips would be quite valuable. I have many questions, forgot a few of them.

Another thought, I'm assuming that they like the stretching component of the material because naturally under different heating conditions different parts of the chip will get hotter and others will be cooler. This was shown to be something that needs to be engineered for with the whole Nvidia 'bumpgate' controversy in 2009-2010 which ended up causing Apple and Nvidia to break up because Nvidia designed a sloppy GPU chip that would break the solder balls underneath the GPU with normal use.

Happy new year and here is the review as promise.
    What's in the box
Headphones Bag 1/4 adapter Side note the box is really retro but trust me this is brand new.
    Build quality
pretty good plastic cable really nice and long 9.8 ft Plug is a 3.5mm gold plated and cased in metal 10/10 there head band is vinyl (very easy to clean) Build is definitely made for studio and out in the field.
also that exposed wire creeps people out and I don't blame them but the wire gets out of the way.
For 100 USD these are freaking built like a tank.
    Comfort
really good clamp though its more than my Sennhiser HD206 pads well they are what stock pads are decent padding head band is really comfy because most of the support comes from the ear cups clamp I am used to my sennyies light clamp force but I think they will break in time.
Also these get warm in the ear which makes sense since they are closed backs.
    Sound
Oh my these are so good on voice and instruments (guitars, trumpets and piano).
Not much bass though people now I don't really like that much bass these have a good amount to me.
Detail is so good I can see why sound engineers love them.
Also these are great for editing video and good monitors on set.
IDK if I would use them for talent for singing.

These require like no power but sound much better with a tiny bit of more power even my Fiio a-1 amp made these awesome.
Not recommended for gaming due to surround sound not being the best but are good for osu!.
In unison - Kira6 it almost made me cry it was so much detail in the orchestra. ふたりごと - TRUE First thanks @Peterwoo802 for giving me a FLAC version. the guitar and voices are so great again it makes me cry. Mods
These are very easy to get parts like pads and replacement cable defiantly a pro product.

velour https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1377752-REG/dekoni_audio_epz_mdr7506_elvl_elite_velour_replacement_earpads.html suede https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1504160-REG/dekoni_audio_epz_mdr7506_chs_choice_suede_ear_pads.html leather https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1504159-REG/dekoni_audio_epz_mdr7506_chl_choice_leather_ear_pads.html what I am going to get https://www.amazon.com/YAXI-stPad2-LR-Blue-Red/dp/B0785WRK1Z?th=1 These have great aftermarket support.
    Final thoughts
I will recommend these to people that go into sound and for people that want detail. But average person probably hates these due to not have a full sound.
Also Sony knows if it ain't broke don't fix and these are one of them that's why they look old but still hold strong and still sell.
For less than 100USD these are  awesome and relatively cheap for headphones.
Any question I can try to answer.

    Custom Double Sleeved Coiled Cable
Purchased for $69.00 from StrikerCables! (Etsy Product Page)

    Black Cerakoted GX16 Connector + 8" (20 cm) Coil
Haven't seen too many cable vendors offer Cerakote/colored aviator connectors. Went with StrikerCables because they did. 👍
Er, ignore the white specks in the cabling -- that's just light reflecting off the Techflex material. Everything is beautifully black. 👌

Honestly, this was a surprisingly stress-free and overall incredibly pleasant purchasing experience for me, especially from a marketplace like Etsy. Highlights:
Free shipping, but both the seller and myself happen to be situated in Cali (i.e. I'm unsure whether other states receive free shipping as well). Seller contacted me 25 minutes after I placed my order to tell me they're working on my cable that night, on Dec 23. Etsy's ETA for shipping was Jan 4 - Jan 8. That two-week delivery estimate already looked a lot more promising than ones given by established keyboard cable vendors. Shipping and tracking info was actually sent on Dec 28, and I received my cable today, Dec 30. Product arrived customized exactly as I ordered it, it's compatible with both of my USB-C keyboards, and I've been satisfied with my inspection of its build quality. I don't normally leave reviews on product pages, but I'm definitely going to sing praises about this particular one.

Sample size of one, but I can wholeheartedly recommend this seller for anyone looking to spruce up their keebs (StrikerCables Etsy Store Page and their Custom Cable Product Page). They do Micro-USB and Mini-USB cables as well. Read up the product page description for a better idea of the level of customizability the seller offers.

I can confidently say the custom cable is going to be a permanent addition to the Eighty #391 keyboard. That is how satisfied I am with this product and this purchase. For those interested, here's the Eighty #391 update, with additional details and photos:

I don't think you know what turbo clock means.

it will boost automatically to that frequency when needed and *under certain circumstances* ie when temps etc allow it.

I recommend resetting cmos and not going into bios again until you have verified that indeed *does not* clock to its intended turbo clock speed, which is by all intends and purposes unlikely.

kinda stupid requirements ... if you want some plot, some story, there's gonna be some drama or some love story/romance/love triangle etc

    good scif-fi movies..
Arrival,  Predestination, Gattaca, Chronicle ... Interstellar you probably saw.  Lots of other good sci-fi movies out there.

    Series ...
    sci-fi
starts a bit weak (first few episodes) but it gets really good :  Fringe : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1119644/
Person of Interest - also gets quite good a few episodes in, worth viewing : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1839578/
Sanctuary ... with all kinds of supernatural creatures, a world inside earth, cool stuff : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0965394/
Warehouse 13 ... cool series,  funny, quirky, worth watching : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1132290/
in the same spirit (same universe) Eureka : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0796264/
Haven : -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1519931/  - I'd put it above eureka, but it's polarizing, it starts a bit slow so some may not stick with it. I did and enjoyed it, story develops as you watch the series
Limitless -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4422836/ -  based on the movie (guy takes some drugs which make him super smart), in this series he works for cops and helps them - with the chick that was Dexter's sister as cop. Full of jokes, doesn't take itself super serious, enjoyed watching it.
Travelers - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5651844/ - not so well known series from Netflix but I quite liked it... people are transported back in time to change some events in order to change the future...
Continuum -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1954347/ - also deals with time travel but a bit different, was a series made on low budget but decent, and had decent plot .. first couple episodes are a bit cringe but it's ok afterwards.

Salvation - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6170874/ - more recent series, some student discovers a huge meteorite will hit Earth and cause apocalypse, so teams up with some Elon Musk type of guy and US government to make something to destroy the object before it hits earth.  Kinda lame ending for the series and they dumb down the student as the series advances but eh, worth watching

    = oldies but goldies =

Dark Angel  - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0204993/ - series with Jessica Alba and the guy from NCIS when he was younger. Worth watching if you were too young to see this series on TV.  Post apocalyptic US with genetically modified children...

Roswell - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0201391/ - the original is great, the remake is decent worth watching

Dollhouse - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1135300/ - two good seasons, worth watching.. about a company which can store minds of people and erase them and program personalities in people

Dead like me - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348913/  -  different, interesting, funny , I liked it  made by same guy that did other great series like "Pushing Daisies" or Hannibal or American Gods and less known but decent "Wonderfalls".  The series is quite good, worth watching.  The standalone movie made after series ended is crap.

    - supernatural and comics stuff -

Teen Wolf - yeah the MTV series, first season is cringe as hell, and with awful music soundtrack, but it really gets good from Season 2. Season 3 is excellent, I honestly was surprising MTV could come up with such good episodes.

Cloak and Dagger - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5614844/ - I actually liked it, inspired by some comics but different enough, two good seasons, enjoyed the soundtrack as well
Bitten  - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2365946/ -  made from some popular books, has werewolves and witches in it, it's ok. With supergirl actress from Smallville as werewolf.
Being Human (US) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1595680/ -  vampire, werewolf and a ghost girl live together, lots of things happen... Remade from a UK series, which is a bit different but also good (but UK viewers have different tastes, may not be for everyone)
Van Helsing - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5197820/  -  ok series with vampires and a couple girls that are some hybrid human-vampire

There's probably some other series like Peaky Blinders or more recent series but I didn't get to them yet, so can't really recommend them.

    non sci- fi
    Fargo first season was awesome
Lie to Me was a good series ,  Life (2007) was also great.
The Closer -  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0458253/ - "murder of the day" type of show, cops solve murders etc, very good, especially good main actress.  Continues with "Major Crimes"  which is with same actors but a bit more action, more shootings etc
Six Feet Under  i remember it was very good, i also liked iZombie  (with the actors from Veronica Mars which was another solid series) ,
Train to Busan - movie, Korean but very good
