Your explanation is fine, it's just not how things work in real world.
You see the people who design CPUs and GPUs are real smart.
They have invented that magical thing called power throttling that makes it real hard for any PSU to crash the system no matter how much you try.
    And I have tried!

I had the same problem with you when I upgraded my Ryzen CPU.
The cooler was stuck to the CPU.
So I had that bright idea to heat up the thermal paste...by running a CPU benchmark on Windows.
So while the benchmark was running I pulled the cooler really hard (in hindsight I should had twist it instead) and the cooler came off with the CPU and the Windows crashed...typical.
I don't know if my CPU was damaged, because I just put the new one afterwards, but the Motherboard was fine.

WannaMurderMicrosoft reacted to Alvin853 in Do I need to have HDR enabled on Windows in order to be available on games?
Some games will auto enable HDR in windows settings when you enable HDR in the game options. But most game developers haven't figured out how to do that, so you need to enable HDR in windows before launching the game. Luckily there is a key combination to do this quickly, Win + Alt + B will enable/disable HDR. Just press it before starting your game and again when you're done, so you don't run HDR on the desktop. Hopefully developers will figure out soon how to handle this in a better way.

I use NovaBACKUP for both back up and creating a system image.  I have critical files that have to be backed up daily and this program does both local and Amazon cloud backup without any issues.  I have it programmed to also do a monthly system image which I fortunately have never had to use.  It creates a bootable USB drive that is used to do the OS drive repair.  I've validated that it boots into the program to mount the OS.  The price is pretty reasonable and they regularly update the program and have good support.

    That's pretty nice.
I had to download the plugins to open those files but it gets the job done.
I think I'll like it even more when I'll get the hang of it.
    Thanks a lot!

    You must be right.
I must have downloaded the Macrium rescue
I think I am installing the reflect trial version now but I also think that it used to be a free version.
    Anyway thanks.

Macrium reflect lets you just clone any drive to any other drive, you can even use the currently running windows install as the source drive. Not sure what version you downloaded that runs from a bootable USB.

Probably has something to do with it being a TV, and 4096x2160 is "Cinema 4K" resolution. It would interpolate that down to its panel's native UHD resolution.

I guess a computer monitor would only need to go up to its native resolution under the assumption that the PC would do the scaling for it.

I've wondered the same thing as my TVs show the same. 4096 x 2160 is the DCI 4k standard, but best I've been able to find is just anecdotal guessing that it has to do with some sort of compliance thing, that it could help ensure the TV can get a proper 4k stream from streaming services by being able to signal that it supports that resolution if necessary. Monitors are "dumb" displays and all the processing, streaming etc. is done on/from the PC that is usually attached to it, so they don't have to worry about that I guess.

Kinda a "faux" solution to what I think you actually want.
But should make it easier to put a window on the edge of either monitor.

I am pleased such things exist, but if you have to do so much tweaking to put Win11 back into a useable form....perhaps it's not the OS to be used?

Oh? I guess Oculus Support has old info. I think I'll still switch since I don't like the layout of Windows 11, but that's helpful to know since it's a huge factor for me 😄

Basically, I woke up this morning to see that Windows 11 was installed without me knowing (microsoft moment) and I absolutely hate it. I want Windows 10 back, is there any way I can go back in versions? I have a fully legitimate key so no issues on that front.

Is this something that's even possible? Microsoft has been pushing me to install Windows 11 for a long time now, but I do not want it due to it not having proper VR Compatibility. Surely there's a "revert update" button?

i would think it will work, they list "vermeer" in bios update 7.30. they likely didn't update the qvl list. the easiest way to know for sure would just be to ask asrock support.
if you do update the bios, it looks like there are requirements for which bios versions have to be installed first before going to 7.30, so make sure to read up on which versions have to flashed in which order.
