MarvinKMooney reacted to leadeater in Hardware Unboxed Goes on Twitter Rant in Response to LTT Labs Potshots
Building a computer PSU that conforms to and reacts correctly to all the ATX specifications isn't actually well understood by a company that makes for example variable output DC power supplies not for usage in computers. The fundamentals are very similar in terms of power circuitry but what is the correct order of 3,3v, 5v and 12v bring up and on which rails and what is the time spacing?

There's actually quite a lot that goes in to computer PSU design and manufacturing as well as testing and there isn't anything inherently wrong with consulting the industry on it and it certainly will not compromise you forever. It's not as if Labs is using any actual Season equipment at all, no in fact all the equipment has nothing at all to do with Seasonic and everything to do with getting the necessary information on how to use it for the application of testing computer PSUs and not some other type of power supply for a different use case.

It's not necessarily wrong to have concerns about an industry vendor being involved at some level however if you want to properly critique what is going on then that also requires making sure of know what is going on. If not then you risk jumping to ill-informed conclusions which becomes more of a problem, for others, if you start to voice them.

Is it really valid if the core of it comes from being jaded and in general hostile towards LTT and you openly state that you are commenting in ignorance because "you don't watch their videos"?

Please don't take the above the wrong way but be careful in how much you personally believe that you are raising valid criticism because others may not see it as valid and it really does not help when you say some of the things you have. And lets be frank, you're known for making a lot of criticisms towards LMG/LTT, founded and unfounded. So many of us here won't just treat something you say as valid criticism even if you personally think it was.

Don't be stepping in to the realm of mistakes like Tim from Labs.

If this is true, why is it that AMD is bad for offering money/sponsorship or whatever they are giving to the developers when it's the developers who agreed to it/went along with it.

    Ima be honest.
I dont see any reason to have both DLSS 2 and FSR 2 support in a game.

Just do FSR 2, it runs on my Nvidia cards. If AMD is giving a dev team extra resources, why spend divert that money to add DLSS 2?

The real question is, will we be able to buy them, or are they gonna be OEM only? Maybe I should start a business, claim to be an OEM, just so I can get me some. lol

I have been saying it for a while now but, AMDs graphics card division and software division is in need of major change.

It is baffling to something like this get to production. AMD seriously needs to improve the quality of their products, be it hardware or software.

MarvinKMooney reacted to porina in Oh yeah? Well we didn't even want that much performance anyway - Intel ARC to prioritize "mainstream" markets with 200 watt max power targets.
Gotta walk before you run. Intel feels like AMD in the Polaris era. If you know you're not going against the high end, you play for the volume/value market in the lower to mid range. Build share and experience before attacking higher up. Even AMD have failed to make any dent in nvidia's domination and I do feel that Intel can overtake AMD for 2nd spot in dGPU sales in a few generations.

This is the play they've been going for since the start. The market of people buying RTX 4090's is tiny, the market buying RTX 3060's is huge.
Its why they marketed the A770 the way they did "between the 3060 and 3060 ti". They need to scoop out a bit of that much larger market.
Its a smart move for a variety of reasons but its the way theyll win people over, by simply having a better product in that common midrange market.

You use lasers to light up a pellet of nuclear fuel.

You get excess energy when the energy needed to drive the laser pulse is less than the energy the nuclear fuel releases when it fuses into helium.

To the best I can tell, the "breakthrough" is that after 10KJ of energy that reached the pellet, the pellet released 14KJ.
Only problem, the lasers took 1.8MJ of energy to fire for 10KJ to reach the pellet. It's a very long way away.

Ok, now force Sony to play ball and release some of their hottest franchises on rival platforms. And bring Bloodborne to PC already.

Anyway, exclusivity is always anti-consumer. I get that console manufacturers want to have an edge by offering something exclusively on their platform that ensures people flock to their ecosystem. But I for one am not happy to be forced to buy multiple systems if I want to experience games that could easily run on all systems.
