Just saying, but 12600K gets quite hot.
Though I've overclocked it to 4.9Ghz  all-core (1.21v), OCCT reports power usage just above 200W. And I have a 360 AIO (Arctic Liquid Freezer II) - 95C
So without OC NH-D15 is most likely fine, but not for OC. Though yeah you didn't say anything about OC.

OC is kind of dead in these years/decade.

The NH-D15 is a very effective cooler, one of the best you can get in terms of air cooling. It will work quite alright.

I would say the 12600k is probably the best choice

sort of like 3080ti vs 3090, 3% better performance for 30% more money

yea i think it’s just an issue with forza as i have a 3080 which handles other games beautifully but fh5 randomly has horrible fps like single digits, they will prob fix it in a few days or weeks becuase it is a new game

Debloat your O.S...And I mean every inch of it. Anything you don't need, disable it. That's basically what it comes down to. And watch that standby memory. The O.S is too retarded to recognize when an app needs the space standby is hogging up. This stuttering issue is FAR too common in PC gaming.

XILEGEND reacted to Light-Yagami in A Stupid Question
It is true that in some cases, there could be different pinouts for some of the larger cables. But, as far as you're buying a PSU from the same brand, you should be completely fine. Just make sure what cable goes where, and how much voltage is provided in different sockets on the PSU. I never had any issues even by using different cables.

Personally, I would change out the cables that come with the new PSU. For peace of mind.

Overclock the crap out of the cpu to alliveate the cpu bottleneck, the intel spec aka max safe volt for 14nm is 1.52v but i d reccomend max 1.4v instead if you have cooling issues

In my area the 3080 Ti is closest to MSRP, so my line of reasoning is that that unit makes the most "sense" price wise. You can wait for the 4000 series, but who knows what pricing will be then.

None of the 30 series are worth their current cost. These are not 1300$ products and they do not deliver 1300$ of graphics and never will.

They are simply scarce , thats it.

In my opinion, the 3060ti and 3070 are pretty good value for 1440p gaming but this market makes it pretty hard to accurately determine value, and the chip shortage and supply chain disruptions don't look to be clearing up anytime soon.

Bottom line is: if you want a gaming PC right now, look for a (reasonably priced) prebuilt with a 30 series card, or pay the premium to buy the card itself for a custom build. If you feel you can wait for a while, prices may finally start coming down.

    Q: Should I upgrade?
A: Can you afford it? Do you not have better places to spend the money? Will you gain any real benefits from upgrading? Will you be able to feed your family if you buy it? Upgrade only if you can answer all of these with yes. Q: Will I need PCI Gen4 to run the new cards?
A: No, according to NVIDIA the difference between Gen 3 and gen 4 is minimal for the cards. It may well be, however, that gen 4 SSD's with their faster speeds make your card perform faster due to RTX I/O. However, as before. We do not actually know how this will affect performance yet. Wait for Benchmarks! Q: Is CPU X good enough not to bottleneck the new RTX 3000 cards?
First off, bottleneck is not a great term to be using here. A bottleneck in the strictest sense exists in every system. The slowest component in the chain between CPU, RAM, Storage Medium, Chipset and GPU will always hold the others back from performing at the pinnacle of their ability. ALWAYS. However whether you experience any bottlenecks that severely hamper your performance depends on many factors. How many programs are running in the background, what program am I running and quantum mumbojumbo happening elsewhere in the universe. Aka random factors. There just isn't a yes or no answer to this question. What you are actually asking is: how much FPS will i lose with this CPU compared to a 10900K, and under conventional wisdom this depends on your chosen resolution! Right now your CPU matters most at 1080p, less at 1440p and even less at 4k however this may not necessarily be true for the 3000 series.  Second, we just do not know. Even conjecture based on how the 2000 series performed with certain CPU's as above, is just a guess at this point. Nvidia's new RTX I/O may change this completely. Like the PS4 the flow of assets to your GPU has been changed radically allowing for theorethically much greater performance while bypassing the CPU. It may well be that this changes the load from your CPU to your SSD, it may well be that your motherboard chipset becomes the deciding factor and it may well be that AMD systems with GEN 4 PCI-E hold the deciding advantage regardless of which CPU. Or this may end up not having as big an effect as it seems it might. We have no data to tell you so you will just have to wait for benchmarks. Any other answer is a GUESS at best.  See https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1242321-the-rtx-3000-faq-check-this-first/

Optane is one of those technologies that sounds good in theory, but in practice falls short and ends up being a compromise that doesn't satisfy anything and can be accomplished better with existing solutions.

Ultimately, this is my feeling on optane/sshdd's:

XILEGEND reacted to porina in Is Intel's 32 Gb Optane Worth It?
I've tried Optane boosting a game storage HD. Not worth the time or effort. Trouble is similar to other cacheing systems, it is a bit small that unless you repeatedly access the same data over and over again, it doesn't really help much.

I would in this situation look to get an OS SSD as it will help in day to day usage. You could easily get a 480-525GB class SSD for that much, and not much of a stretch to 1TB. That'll give you the ability to put performance sensitive apps/data on the SSD, while retaining the capacity of the HD for bulk storage.

I've not used it myself, but Primocache with a bigger regular SSD might be another option to consider if you really want to avoid a reinstall.

I have a  16gb Optane in my laptop, with 1 tb hard drive, even though it makes it faster than just hard drives is slower than a nvme SSD, so the decision you have to make is either get a small-medium SSD and keep important stuff in it and keep large files like games in the HDD (many people do this but personally playing off HDDs is not the best experience ). or you could get a optane module and get a cheap SSD like performane for your 2TB .

Unless you use the whole 2tb frequently optane has little to offer

XILEGEND reacted to Beerzerker in Enough Wattage For Overclocking?
If you get one that's rated for more wattage it won't make it use more power, all it means is the PSU can supply the power up to the rated wattage if the demand is there for it.
I'd have to say 650W isn't bad myself and would do fine for your build BUT if you want to go larger, it certainly wouldn't hurt things if you did.

Yes, probably. But it isn't necessarily a bad thing considering the 2060S can push most games at 100FPS. If you want, you can squeeze out a dozen or two more frames by going easy on anti-aliasing. AA is one of the biggest GPU resource hog; and you can easily minimize the GPU bottleneck by disabling it altogether.

Less load on GPU per frame = more frames per second = more strain on CPU = less bottleneck.

AA @ 1080p is pretty much worthless in most cases and I, for one, tend to disable it completely. But then again, my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be!

Ok, im sorry to keep annoying you but just to clarify (I really dont want to mess this up lol) that PSU would run both those graphics cards? And should i stick with an i5 since i have a c

Do you have any recommendations for a power supply that would run those GPUs? Id like to keep it under 100 if possible. Id be playing games like CS , H1, PUBG, Beam NG Drive, and other new games that might peak interest. Im slowly getting more and more into PC gaming (RN still ps4 pleb) Im not sure if this makes a difference but if i did get the i7-4790k, id be cooling it with an EVO 212. Id like to run everything at 1080p 60fps. But like previously said, since the PSU i have now isnt the best quality, would you say get a better brand at 500 watts or just get more wattage period.

Do you have any recommendations for a PSU that would run those processors and GPUs? And which GPU/CPU combo would work best?Ik i recently asked STRM but im just looking for more advice. Sorry if im repeating myself at all its a bit overwhelming trying to figure all the mix and matches of parts as someone who is pretty new to this...
