Alder Lake Coolers

XILEGEND

I was planning on getting an i5 12600k or an i7 12700k but was wondering if i could keep my current cooler im using on my i7 7700k. Im using the noctua nh-d15 and saw they had a mounting bracket to bring compatibility to the alder lake cpu. Will this suffice or is the shape of the new processor altered enough to where i wont get proper cooling? Thanks a lot for taking the time!

The NH-D15 is a very effective cooler, one of the best you can get in terms of air cooling. It will work quite alright.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Just saying, but 12600K gets quite hot.

Though I've overclocked it to 4.9Ghz  all-core (1.21v), OCCT reports power usage just above 200W. And I have a 360 AIO (Arctic Liquid Freezer II) - 95C

So without OC NH-D15 is most likely fine, but not for OC. Though yeah you didn't say anything about OC.

OC is kind of dead in these years/decade.

"Mine is overclocked, but overclocking is dead"

Why do I keep reading this nonsense from random overclockers who actively overclock their chips???

If OC was dead, you wouldn't be doing it.....

Don't mind me, just an observation.

Well, minimum OC is only achievable with very high end cooling.  It used to be possible to raise core frequency with an average cooler  ( I mean average cooler was without any heat pipes, just a block of aluminium and copper) about 33%, now with very good AIO - around 10%

It's really not worth it, but don't listen to me.  I make strange decisions when buying hardware.

On the Noctua web site they will be available in December free of charge. I only noticed you could buy them today.

D15 will handle an OC.

And he inquired about it.

The cooler is as bad ass as most AIO 360s.

And still can't figure out why OC is dead.

You know spreading that around isn't good. We need MORE people to get into overclocking. And then suck them into competitive sports overclocking.

And keep it alive meign....
