Search for the words "ax200ngw desktop" on eBay or such and you'll find items like this one. That's the one I am using myself as well.

QuantumBit reacted to Tristerin in At what age will let kids date?
My rule is simple - as soon as my daughter thinks she can have a boyfriend, she can, as long as she follows these rules:
1.) They must sign up (free, I own the gym) at my MMA gym and maintain 3 days a week training regiment. If they can do that, she can "have a boyfriend".
This will eliminate quite a few people out of the gate until she wants to date people responsible (or parents responsible) enough to maintain that quota. Ill know their soul within a few training sessions, and if they harbor a dark soul, Ill grind them (or my students will at my discretion depending on age) until they quit or their soul changes. If they quit, no dating. If they change - they will make for a better person.
Im hoping this works lol

QuantumBit reacted to chippu in I love this place
Whenever it comes to asking for problems, I look towards Reddit. For things like game communities (i.e. r/residentevil) its fine, people on there are nice and tell you what you want.
But when it comes to tech questions, I have been asking on r/buildapc. For example, I would ask "What board is better: MSI Tomahawk MAX or Asus ROG STRIX Gaming?". Mostly cause those 2 boards are what I'm deciding between and I can't spend 150-200 dollars on a motherboard. But instead of telling me the pros and cons of each and giving me recommendations, they just say "Get a b550 board" (out of my budget) or "get an matx board" (Last MATX board I used the SATA ports were blocked by the GPU and I like the comfort and space in an ATX) And I got so god damn sick of it. Post after post of responses not giving me answers, just bashing what I want/need.
That was until I found this place. I love this place and you guys. Every response so far has been helpful and actually relate to my question, and while I don't watch that much LTT, I can confidently say this site he made has been nothing but a great experience so far.
Thank you all!

QuantumBit reacted to minibois in WiFi card disabled when M.2 is plugged in
OP's videocard is listed in his signature and is two slot sized:
Should still fit, the videocard is like barely more than two slots

QuantumBit reacted to minibois in WiFi card disabled when M.2 is plugged in
There are three PCIE slots, right?
The bottom slot is turned off, so you need to use PCI_E1 for the GPU, PCI_E2 for the wifi card

QuantumBit reacted to Tristerin in HELP!
If you have the connectors it will be just fine. Unless you have some 200+watt CPU. Then maybe it will be a stretch but Id hook it up no problem no questions asked. Even with adapters for powering it.

QuantumBit reacted to VeganJoy in Is there anything better (value) than the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro ?
i mean its only semi-accurate use would be for testing your own hardware against other people's setups with the same hardware to make sure your stuff aint broke but thats about it, any comparison between products is pretty inaccurate due to their weighting system and their benchmark isnt very demanding/relevant afaik

QuantumBit reacted to VeganJoy in Is there anything better (value) than the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro ?
technical reasons, it utilizes some fancy nand stuff that i dont even partially comprehend but its the best dramless ssd on the market making it a lot cheaper than ssds with dram while giving you very similar performance. maybe if i poke ssd god @NewMaxx he can elaborate, i bug him here and on reddit lmao

QuantumBit reacted to SupaKomputa in Is there anything better (value) than the ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro ?
WD SN750 probably neck to neck with that.
Also you can get a Samsung PM981 nvme, the oem version of 970.
All ssd will slow down when it's filled up. Just make sure you have at least 10% space left.

QuantumBit reacted to Sir0Tek in HDD varying write speeds and response time
Windows resource manager calling it hard faults? https://appuals.com/hard-faults-per-second/
It is page-faults then, there's no 'hard' in it. And then it's a windows-issue, not exactly something that fits into storage-devices.

Run Crystal Disk Info... This should really be the first rule in this subforum if you're asking about HDD that's acting up...

QuantumBit reacted to Sir0Tek in HDD varying write speeds and response time
unlike common ssd's a harddisk isn't known to have a drastical slowdown of write-/access-time when almost-full. Usually it will try to mark defective blocks and such, so giving your drive and the filesystem more space will improve its behaviour, but if it already shows hardfaults to you it's going to become worse over time.
Years ago harddisks were more expensive, and even further back - at times when the filesystem itself had the option to mark bad sectors and such, it was about $200+ for 250mb (megabytes!) of harddisk space. In these days we did partition those drives in a way that the area with errors were left out of any access.
-
QuantumBit reacted to Sir0Tek in HDD varying write speeds and response time
It is at least very suspicious, there shouldn't be any hardfault, at least not the type the user will have to worry about. Write speeds could be due to a technic called shingled magnetic recording but afaik your drive is using the conventional magnetic recording. So, unless there may be issues with the connection or the controller I would say the harddrive is going to give you more trouble in the future.
Edit: Complete nonsense. Due to Microsofts renaming of page-faults of virtual-memory handling into 'hard faults' I happened to misinterpret it as beeing hard(disk) faults.

QuantumBit reacted to Sylferion in Linus on Live Stream (I've been thinking of retiring)
I will feel sad if he retires, but if it's his decision and that's what he wants, I'll respect it. I've learned so much things from this guy and he is unique. From what I mean by unique, you already know, drops stuff but that's the reason why he is so interesting to watch. The sponsors too. I swear @LinusTech people will respect the decision that you will make in the future.

Truth - I also didn't see the reddit link till now, was actually the abbreviation lol.
Im in a position right now where I may get a pallet with 20+ PCs from my work with i5 6 series and higher. Monitors etc. I will be finding a way to send one of these to him as assuredly karma must be paid forward.
