We could properly review Threadripper Pro 7000, but since none of you will be purchasing one anyway we figured having a bit of fun with it was in order.

Me too, I'm not sure if "My house burned down" video is worth it.

I guess that some water did get into other units in the rack. Corroded components can work for a while before they pop.

Anyway, I still don't have good feeling about this solution.
I'd prefer each computer having its own loop and heat exchanger - it'd add redundancy and the cooling components are not working with higher pressure/flow than what they are build for. Also, one leak wouldn't empty whole loop.
Or at least add some pressure control. And some leak detectors would definitely help with safety. It's a home installation, safety should be on the first place.

Hey, I just created this account, but I've been watching Linus for years. In their newest video, Linus showcased one of Vtech's newest products, the KidiBuzz 3, which is honestly kinda cool and I would've loved having one as a kid. But, I feel like it should come to the attention of the viewer how horrible Vtech is, or, at least how horrible their data breach was back in 2015. There's an excellent video made by Vince Vintage, which I have linked, but TLDR:
-They acquired sensitive content on millions of children, which includes emails, passwords, security questions, addresses, parent emails... etc.
-Had a data breach by an anonymous user who gained access to their data base, undetected.
-Contacted a website across all of their devices that used Adobe Flash for their login page, which, even back in 2015 was vulnerable to SQL injections and other vulnerabilities.
-Stored usernames in passwords in a decades old encryption algorithm.
-Stored security questions in plain text.
-Lied about how much data was compromised.
-Added a term in their TOS which reads "YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT ANY INFORMATION YOU SEND OR RECEIVE DURING YOUR USE OF THE SITE MAY NOT BE SECURE AN MAY BE INTERCEPTED OR LATER ACQUIRED BY UNAUTHORIZED PARTIES."
They have significantly strengthened their unlock methods since then, but I feel like even if I told my aging grandparents about this issue, who care less about their data than their dental health, wouldn't want to touch Vtech with a forty-foot-pole.

Wow. Never thought I would see this on LTT. I actually collect and restore these machines! I have many different mechanical calculators including a Friden STW-10, CW-10, and an older D10 with the chrome styling. I am also lucky enough to have my favorite mechanical calculator, an electric Millionaire machine, 1 of only 236 ever made. In case anyone is interested in learning more or seeing some more of my calculators and reading about them, you can here on my blog:

And I have a quick video of the electric Millionaire calculator here:

I have a few others quick videos too, such as a Marchant ACR8M performing division:

I need to get around to uploading more videos of my machines, however, I attached some pictures of some of my other machines, including a wooden Comptometer made in 1896!

idmb reacted to Canoe in The RGB HDMI cable ISN'T as dumb as you'd think...
As seen in the video, and as most people have seen, various cable products are advertised as improving the end result. Well this can be technically true (but their product claims sure stretch that), few users are in circumstances where that will be of benefit, let alone needed. Additionally, repeatedly I see largely correct counter information presented as comprehensively "True".

"It either works, or it cuts out" is largely correct (in that it is what most users will experience), but it is incomplete. It doesn't address the small percentage of cases where a cable works, but the image or sound is degraded. Note small. If you're not experiencing problems or a degraded image or sound, there is no need to run out and give your money away for higher quality cables, nor for those with exotic and/or questionable materials or features.

Even on boards, as most people know, the digital signals are typically a high or low voltage: if the voltage is high enough it's treated as a One, if the voltage is low enough it's a Zero. Check a Timing Diagram or Slew Rates if you want to get into the detailed stuff. Like that, nearly all "digital" signals are not actually digital, but are Digitally Encoded analog signals. Read their various specs if you want the specifics.

    Digital signals are great as:
with mild degradation of the transmission, the analog signal is almost always correctly interpreted at the receiving end and the digital input will equal the digital output, with some more degradation, error correction protocols will result in the correct digital output, beyond that, the received signal starts getting fixed into something that makes sense, usually a very usable value (much like a lossey format like jpg making up data to complete the image), as degradation gets worse, the image and/or sound gets increasingly worse in quality (as though crazy high image/sound compression),  beyond that, you get droppouts, then breakups, then scrambled images/sound, finally, no usable signal. For the overwhelming majority of users, the EMF levels in their environment (or the quality of the cable shielding) won't result in meaningful EMI. They will fall into the 1st and 2nd conditions, with some unknowingly in the 3rd. Those that end up experiencing the 5th or 6th will know there's something wrong, and will investigate what's going on. Unless you're going for greater distances, this is usually solved with a product that uses a reasonable quality cable. If there's high noise, or you've used cheap cables (poor or no shielding), you may be in the 3rd, or possibly 4th conditions. Before spending your money on a reasonable quality cable, after ensuring your system's settings are correct (and possibly software, driver or firmware updates), borrow one and see if that solves the image or sound issues. Few will have a degraded signal that is so close to usable that gold plated connections make a difference. Some may be in humid conditions that require gold plating to prevent corrosion over time.

For network cables, you see the same thing. Even where a CAT5 or CAT6 product is made with a quality cable and terminals, if the correct layout isn't used and isn't a quality termination, the final cable may not be capable of even CAT5 speeds. Used the right stuff, but did it wrong. I like that the product in the video states their certification for 4K 60 Hz 18G Deep Color. If the quality assurance is up to par, it should be good to go.

This cable looks great for high EMF/EMI noise environments, and for somewhat longer distances!
And I love that it flashes red when it looses the connection with the receiving end! When you loose your display, its already telling you which end has the issue, which could be saving very valuable time, sometimes critical time, in trouble shooting. Or saves you aggravation.
It's a shame it's not available in shorter lengths. Hate to have so much cable around stuffed in or behind something where it can get damaged.
I have a longer HDMI display need coming up. This cable could be a very good choice for this. Looks like it's most likely to be an install and forget.

With fibre optic cable being a mature product, the mode of fibre optic cable they're using is likely capable of much longer distances. We may be seeing such if there's a demand. Although I doubt the RGB could do meaningfully longer distances.

This is why I love LMG's current direction. More host diversity means a wider knowledge stack to pull from and an easier time picking a writer who actually has a reason to talk about the topic at hand!

It is amazingly obvious in LTT videos when the writer who worked on the project was passionate and knowledgeable about the topic before it came to their desk/pay check. If I remember correctly this is the first Apple product review that Linus didn't host, yeah? Clearly Apple will continue to get shat on if the host doesn't like their products to begin with.

And I really, really must say @GabenJr deserves a "greatest improvement" and "best host" award, if LMG ever decides to issue community-voted awards. It is quantifiable in not only the quality of the end result in editing, but also in host confidence how much better Anthony has become since the beginning of the year. Your confidence in front of the camera is immeasurably better, and your "stage" presence truly makes you come across as the knowledgeable and intelligent individual you are. Also you seem to have lost a little weight, props for that!

Also, whoever shot the B-Roll for this video needs a raise. Truly stunning, and the absolute best I have ever seen from any LMG content.

I think the only underrated host now is Terran, bring back keyboard reviews and make that his thing! The king sits idle on this throne ?

TL;DR: LTT improves every day diversity grows. The recent influx of other faces in front of the camera is nothing short of a blessing.
