sanderdegrote reacted to Cwis3man in Server Room Updates
This is such amateur hour.
4 UPS's for a single rack is way way overkill. That's like half a UPS per server in that rack which is ridiculous.
Lose a UPS and get a rack mounted KVM like a normal person or don't and just throw it above the file server they're only 1U and much much better than that wall mounted nonsense you've got now.

as said above, the external columns are connected in a single row (like for power sources). That is why the two long ones span the entire board, they are connecting the two power rails.
The internal ones are connected in rows separated by the median. This makes using IC's easy because they can straddle the median.

sanderdegrote got a reaction from unijab in Hosting Your Own Proxy?
If you really want to run a proxy you can do it with the "ssh" command, you need to be runninig an ssh server (OpenSSH for example) on the local machine or replace "localhost" with the hostname of the computer you want to proxy your requests to.
ssh -ND :1080 localhost However it's generally recommended to use a VPN instead of proxies, they're better in almost every aspect.

I'm fairly sure that's not even close to being true. You might get a higher write speed for the first few gigabytes, but after the cache is full you will be limited to the HDD's speed. And as far as read performance goes, it will only improve for some files used regularly (like the OS) and will be limited by the size of the cache "partition". They're still a viable option if you want a high capacity drive that's slightly faster than a normal HDD, but don't expect SSD-like performance . But as you stated, it's probably better to used a separate SSD as boot drive.

First of all, does your CPU support it? (google it or use CPU-Z) And if so, is it actually enabled in the bios as the error message states?

sanderdegrote got a reaction from d3sl91 in amazon free vps
It is a perfectly functional VPS in the AWS cloud, but the limits are quite strict. (But ok for something free) And it's not hard to push more than 15GB of traffic though your pipe which you will get billed for if you do so. So if you're very careful it will be free. You can run the t1.micro instance 750 hours/month, t2 for 375, etc..

sanderdegrote got a reaction from Levent in Limiting SSH access to VPN, Ubuntu.
Those failed attempts are normal, but maybe a bit on the high side from my experience. Now your actual question, there are several ways to achieve this. You could set sshd up to only listen on the VPN interface or use Iptables to drop all inbound traffic to port 22 unless it originates from your VPN subnet (make sure to not lock yourself out ). I hope this helps, feel free to ask for more information.

A bit late here but you could try to use an external method to host the file(s), such as dropbox, google drive, etc. It won't be able to check that

sanderdegrote got a reaction from Tedster in HP MONITOR OVERCLOCKING!
You can't magically "overclock" your monitor and make it display more pixels, it might allow you to set your resolution higher but it won't display more than the display's maximum resolution. You might be able to overclock the monitor's refresh rate though

We have identified the problem, you're using an xbox one. Getting out of the vehicle is the same button as you used to get in(on PC). @JohhCheese I think you hold X down on console.
