MrPants_ reacted to Streetguru in New headset Student in Norway
The arcts series have better microphones I believe,
Not sure how much better the Arctis 5 is vs the Arctis "One" and 3 for the money.
Or find a used Arctis 7 wired or wireless, I'm never going back to a wired headset.

I've never really liked corsair's headsets, they always felt cheap to me. I recently got a G Pro X from logitech, great headset and it has really good audio. The X version is a little bit more expensive and has a better mic, but the normal G Pro has the same speakers in the headset, it's 888nok on the website you linked

MrPants_ reacted to OPSJono in Node 202 PSU any good?
I've got a node 202 and using the PSU it came with.
It blew up and killed my GPU within a month of turning it on.
However, they replaced it and bought a new GPU for me for free.
And it's been working for about 3 years without any problems now.
Overall I'd recommend it. - Having one blow was probably just highly unlucky for me.
Small sample sizes and all that.

MrPants_ reacted to Arika in ethereum mining
generally mining is done 24/7 on a dedicated mining machine. if this is your main PCand will be using it in any other capacity, forget about mining. like the others have said if you dont pay for your own electricity, be prepared to explain the extra $100-$200 a month on their power bill

MrPants_ reacted to Tsuki in Carbide series spec-01 help
on this particular case, no.
however you can get adapters to convert the 5.25in drive bays into 3.5in HDD bays, which should give you 2 additional drives.
or velcro tape them to the floor of the case

Or you could go with the Ryzen + 1070? If i was you i'd go for 1440p 60Hz though, but hey that's just me. If you're not opt-ing for 1440p you could easily save a couple of hundred bucks for 1080p 60Hz, and probably the more reasonable choice. I don't see why you should have a 1070 + a 1080p 60Hz monitor as @RadiatingLight seems to have suggested though. If you're going with a ryzen + 1070 (1440p) or 580 (1080p) i'd run with his build though, looks great to me ^^

MrPants_ reacted to captain cactus in AMD trims pricing of the Ryzen 7 1700 and 1700X: 1700 for $319, 1700X for $349.
https://www.techpowerup.com/233966/amd-trims-prices-of-the-ryzen-7-1700-and-1700x
Good stuff. A $50 price cut for the 1700X makes it a really good competitor to the 7700K (price wise) and the 1700 is now $10 cheaper as well. Not much, but still nice. Lowers the barrier to 8-core goodness just a bit more. Now with the top-dog 1800X at $469 AMD has a really solid line-up, though the 1800X could still be cheaper to better fit in with the other two.

No need for Z270 Motherboard with locked i5, R5 would also be better to buy. Try to push for an RX 570 also, much better value than the 1050ti.

Not true.
Win+R > services.msc > Windows Update > Properties > Startup type: Disabled > Service status: Stop.
That said, ^ will prevent you from getting any updates, which is insecure and I highly suggest you don't do it.

MrPants_ reacted to Classified101 in NZXT Hue+
Yes, you are right. I realized that the extension kit was unnecessary. The four LED strips that came with the HUE+ were enough for my case. I ran the two AER RGB fans through one channel and the four LED strips through the other channel.
I sold the extension kit on eBay for $18, which is good because I bought it for $20.
Thanks for your reply!

Why? Unless you're doing something that needs lots of data transfer, a good SATA SSD will work perfectly fine.
