First PC Build

Hello, This is my first pc build and I have done tons of research. I believe I have figured out what I want.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sn6BHN

  • I am being given the graphics card.
  • I am in the good old USA.
  • My budget is 400$ (which my configuration is 400$ on Amazon).
  • I am looking to play games like arma 2 and also use things like blender and cad software.
  • I tried to chose parts that will allow me to upgrade to a 7700k an a gtx1080 in the future.
  • I also want to tinker with overclocking when I get a better cpu cooler.
  • I already have a tv and peripherals .
  • I will be using windows 10.

If you find any faults please point them out :).

I am here to learn.

Thank you!!!

p.s. I have to buy everything of Amazon and Newegg

Just a heads up: ArmA is notorious for being very CPU dependent. Not sure how much this affects ArmA II, but something to keep in mind if you're going with a dual core CPU

Quote me in replies so I see them.

I strongly encourage you to ditch the HDD for now and go with an SSD if you're gonna upgrade later. An SSD for a boot drive is sooo good you will not regret it

Ya I was kinda thinking that but I really can't spend more than 400$. I can get a 120 or a 128 gb SSD for the same price as a boot drive. Would that be enough for the basics until I get a HDD?

THANKS

Ok thanks I'll definitely look into that.

As I said; I'm not sure if ArmA II is as bad as III considering it's an older game, but ArmA III does not care at all about my i7 4790K and SLI 1080s (though ArmA doesn't have the best SLI support (if at all)).

Take this and get an rx 560 once it launches (should launch in a week or so).

It's not really worth getting a z series board right now planning on getting a 7700k, since you'd be sacrificing probably 75-90% performance right now for 5-10% in the future, which isn't worth it IMO.

Don't take the GT 630, it's literally worse than integrated graphics. Get a 560 instead.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Ok thank you I didn't realize that the gt630 was that bad lol. I will be most likely going with most of what you have recommended now that I have done some number crunching (assuming the rx 560 will be about 100$). So Thank You!

Why Z270 mobo with G4560 and in budget build?
Bad GPU choice, get 1050TI or RX 470/570 at least
Mediocre PSU

Go for @herman mcpootis build, much better

Ok I've taken into consideration every thing that has been recommended and this is what I will most likely be buying over time.(The 1050ti might be replaced with a rx 560 if it turns out to be better)

Also I was wondering if it makes a difference between the single and dual fan 1050ti's.

Almost nothing, it is already a low wattage card so thermals shouldn't be a issue. The difference will perhaps be in noice and temperatures. Id go for a 2 fan setup for a little quieter and lower temps.

Also for Arma 2/3. A i7-7700k is a great choice. I just got it myself and running Arma 2 at almost max settings at 80-120fps ( singe player mind you), Arma 3 is max settings 60+fps.

Please feel free to ask if you got any questions :)

That's amazing! If you're upgrading CPU get 6700K if you mind about 7700K heating issues

"Make it future proof for some years at least, don't buy "only slightly better" stuff that gets outdated 1 year, that's throwing money away" @pipoawas

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

Mention me if you want to summon me sooner or later

Spoiler

My head on 2019 :

Note 10, S10, Samsung becomes Apple, Zen 2, 3700X, Renegade X lol

why don't you just get a cheap z170 board, and a 6500/6600k and go for a bit using integrated graphics until you can buy a 1080 like you want? the only thing you would be missing out on is basically 4k Netflix by going z270/7700k
