Hmm, around that budget, you're looking at just a GPU upgrade right now. The RX 570 is solid. I was hoping to know more about the RX 5300, whether it's going to be OEM-only or if there'll be part sales, or even if people will sell them on eBay. It's purportedly 30-55% faster than a GTX 1650 at $130.

Need recommendations for brother. He is building his first pc. His bought a system from marketplace,  a lenovo with an i5 3330 and a gtx 660.
 
While playing apex legends he's getting 50 to 60 fps at 720p. His CPU is hitting 80 percent and his gpu is 100 percent.
 
 
What would be the best upgrade for @ least 1080p 60 fps in apex? Would a 1060 6gb work with the i5?

Hello all,I bought a cheaper 1TB to save money, but I think that may have been a mistake..
 
While playing Apex Legends, my screen will completely freeze up for about 3-4 seconds then continue normally. This happens 3+ times a match.
I had my resource monitor open while this occurred and noticed that my disk usage spikes up to 100% at the same moment these freezes happen.
ALSO My fans kick up while this freeze is happening, but temps are low on both CPU and GPU.
Could this be my issue? 

$450-$500 bucks maybe for a used 1080 founders I'd say. Shoulda sold it a few months ago my man.

When your CPU is pegged at 100% it does not matter how powerful your GPU is, as it is sitting idle alot. You can see this by the frequent drops from 100% usage and the fact that your CPU is at 100% usage majority of the time. Turning down settings, specifically things like AA and post processing effects such as AA, will help decrease the load on your CPU and hopefully help. 

Get him to run MSI afterburner and keep an eye on the stats.
 
Use RivaTuner overlay (while playing overwatch) to keep the FPS, CPU, RAM and GPU usage on screen and try to find the bottleneck that way.

The G4400 is not the problem.  It can run Overwatch at 1080p/50fps on high settings when paired with a GTX 750 Ti...and 8GB of memory.  My guess is that the memory is the issue.  4GB is usually ok for regular desktop tasks, but struggles with gaming.  I would recommend getting another 4GB ram stick to make that 8GB of ram in his system.  You can buy a 4GB DDR4 module for around $30.

Having said that, his computer should not be lagging when doing normal things, as I said earlier.  That could be his hard drive going bad, or otherwise some sort of software issue.

I decided to use 2x2cm of industrial velcro on all 4 corners to attach the glass, holds it up well.
Most likely be doing the top panel same as front panel in a week or so.

would still wait and see how ryzen performs against intel cpus, but yeah do see your point, sitting on a 6800k now and would easliy have gotten the 1800x instead if ryzen had been out when i bought my new rig
 

i5 7600 can be bought from jet for 205$. So unless the i5 equivalents are going to be actually cheaper with the am4 board and perform similar, anything below the ryzen 7 series is going to flop like bulldozer.

yeah its a beast of a cpu if you are on a tight budget.

Actually that card isn't much.

I think he was just stating that the CPU upgrade won't help performance at all. 
I understand what he means, but there will be SOME increase in FPS. My guess is hel'll be able to play Overwatch on high instead of medium with 60fps+
 
Which tbh, is perfect, and he might not even need to upgrade the GPU unless he wants to play some GPU intensive AAA games.

Crossfire and SLI are a good deal if you have a card, and then someone gives you one for free or at a huge discount.  It's a bad choice compared to getting a single more powerful card.

Thumb screws would probably be the easiest to setup, you can drill and tap thread into the frame of the case for the screws to bolt into place. 

Yea I think the cleanest would be to tap threads and put thumbscrews in, guess I'll have to order a tap set, I'll update if you want to see it finished
