Fenzee reacted to Musikman in AMD unveils AM1 APU platform
Is it just me or is the quoted text illegible? Can you please change the color of the text OP.
Edit: It seems fine on mobile. I have a feeling it's illegible because I have the dark theme on my computer.

Fenzee reacted to alpenwasser in Cable Lacing Tutorial (upd. 2013-OCT-05)
Hello everyone,
I've been asked a few times how I did the lacing for my current builds (here and here),
and I said I'd make a tutorial on that. Well, here it is. Since I'm still a complete
noob when it comes to video processing I'm open for feedback, especially when it
comes to sound quality. I'm using headphones and don't have any speakers available
at the moment, and the sound seems ok, if a bit on the low side. But since audio
experiences can greatly vary for different people feel free to say so and I can
try to fiddle around with it or maybe even re-record it and then reprocess that.
For those who are not familiar with this (such as myself a few months ago): Cable lacing
was used to arrange cables and wires before the advent of zip ties and velcro ties.
If you work in the telecom industry you might have learned this on the job. Nowadays
it's a lot less common due to being quite expensive, although it is still used in
some applications. One of them is spaceflight. Cables on spacecraft are usually
tidied up by lacing them.
The technique I'm using at the moment is not something a professional would
use (at least I don't think so), but an amalgam of different stuff I've found
around, looked at and tried out. It gives me the look I want and does its job
while at the same time not taking up an insane amount of time (unless you do
it with Nylon cord ;)).
Anyway:

Fenzee reacted to Fetzie in Catalyst 14.1 (MANTLE) Drivers are Here! Post yer Results!
I disagree.
Firstly, all these BF4 benchmarks are from the GPU bound solo campaign. You see rather better numbers from the multi-player maps, which are more CPU bound. Mantle would be really great for an MMOG, because they are almost always dependent on having a strong CPU. RTS developers could finally leave the idea that an "army" has less than 20 units in it behind.
Indeed, it is in the interest of all computer gamers that we either get DX11 or OpenGl up to scratch (because they aren't) or Mantle gets adopted.

And what about Case and Hard Drive? And what power supply?
Also wrong section.

Fenzee reacted to EpicGeekonFire in lol 100$ PC>Current consoles
Consoles are a market. For all those dumbbutt kids who have nothing else better to do with their lives. They buy every new console and spend 80 bucks on each game. they don't really care if runs good or not. Most people who use a Console don't even know what a graphics card is. But a 100 dollar pc against the latest consoles... no way... Consoles aren't that bad...

Fenzee reacted to Derangel in AMD solves R9 290 throttling problem with a new driver
The, at most, 350RPM difference won't significantly increase noise.
Why do you assume they're not "letting" coolers come out? Stock on the cards is still low across the board. AIBs don't have enough chips to fulfill orders of stock cards much less magically conjure up more supply for multiple 290 and 290X SKUs. I'd like to remind you that the 290 and 290X are using the same chip, they are both eating into a very finite amount of supply at the moment.

Fenzee reacted to LinusTech in Linus stop Lecturing us
As some of the people in this thread pointed out, I say these things because I have to respond directly to feedback that I'm receiving.
Much of the audience is very techie, and, in the case of the R9 290 video, I even acknowledged their different set of needs by including a "skip to the numbers" button.
For the ones who aren't very techie and having been paying attention, it's important to explain these things. Google "Radeon R9 290X runs at 95C" or something and you'll find people complaining about it when it's just a thermal limit implemented in software. The card will run at 95C until it reaches its power draw limit, but most people don't know that. They just see "omg 95C it runs so hot" and they don't realize they can just turn it down.
We're planning to do some "normalized" testing at 80C between the latest gen NVIDIA and AMD cards and we'll explain this whole thing in more detail at that time, but until then I just have to keep spelling it out as best I can.
If you already know something, just be glad you already know it, and try not to feel like I'm talking down to you. I'm sure if I met you in person I'd understand that you know these things, but since you're 100s of kilometers away in all likelihood, there's no way I can tell who knows or doesn't know anything so I have to cover all the bases.
EDIT: To those in this thread who feel the need to defend me, it's okay. I want people to be able to speak their mind when there's something they don't like about the content. I would rather see everyone being friendly and welcoming to everyone on this community than to see someone shut down because they have a complaint or some feedback for me.

Dude you first say that you are a "big Linus fan" but then you criticize us and call us LTT fanboys for telling YOU off... If I were you I wouldn't take that approach because there are many, and I mean MANY, of us who won't tolerate any of that so you sir, "tone it down"
Please.

Fenzee reacted to TopWargamer in Infinity Ward: ''CoD players aren't hardcore gamers, or even gamers at all''
I just want to throw this out there, so then my opinion can make more sense.
I'll even reiterate what I said before. I personally do agree with what IW said. People who play CoD, and only play CoD, are not gamers in my book, because they only play that one game (same applies to people who only play MineCraft, LoL, etc.). I consider somebody a gamer if they play more than one genre or if one genre, plays multiple games from that genre (but not games in a series). It doesn't have to be every game genre under the sun.
For example, my dad doesn't game all that much, maybe only a few times a week, but he's played a variety games ranging from first-person shooters (like CoD or Battlefield), third-person shooters (like Gears of War), RPGs (like Mass Effect), sports games (like Fifa), and action-horror games (like Dead Space). He doesn't play a lot, nor does he play a vast amount of different genres, but he does play more than just that 1 game from that 1 genre, so I consider him a gamer.
So to me...
Gamer = People who play more than 1 genre of games or if one genre, multiple games from the genre (but not games in a series).
People who play that 1 game from that 1 genre = Somebody who plays games
