Microsoft Sues US Government Over Requests to Invade Users Privacy
Source 1: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/581900-microsoft OP: Jacktastic-Mofo
Source 2: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/microsoft-sues-us-government-secrecy,
Microsoft filed a lawsuit in federal court against the US gov’t over its expanding use of gag orders for data requests
Almost half of data requests are (allegedly) secret, and more than two thirds of gag orders have no expiration date, meaning users would never be made aware
Microsoft believes the US gov’t is using the increased popularity of cloud services as a way to skirt around the Fourth Amendment ("[t]he right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause”)
These gag orders remove the right of the people to know when the government searches or seizes their property (information)
Microsoft also believes that these orders violate the First Amendment (freedom of speech & of the press) by disallowing the company to talk to its customers
They have requested that the Department of Justice immediately issue a new policy restricting the “out-of-control” gag orders from law enforcement
If that doesn’t happen, then they request Congress to amend the Electronic Communications Protection Act to require gov’t notice for warrants
Microsoft claims that the current ECPA allows the gov’t to issue more secret orders than they can under other similar laws
Microsoft will begin lobbying for laws to protect user rights for digital privacy on their on PC and in the cloud
This is the fourth lawsuit Microsoft has filed against the US gov’t to protect customer privacy
They have “only done so when [they] considered the gov’t’s requests to be out-of-bounds”
The first lawsuit resulted in Microsoft being allowed to disclose how many data requests it receives, the second resulted in the gov’t withdrawing a National Security Letter (extraordinary search procedure which gives the FBI the power to compel the disclosure of customer records held by banks, telephone companies, Internet Service Providers, and others) it had issued to Microsoft, the third is still taking place and is in regards to a US search warrant for an email of a customer from Ireland

Grand Theft Auto developer Leslie Benzies is suing Rockstar
Leslie Benzies = formerly president of Rockstar and producer of Grand Theft Auto
Claiming unpaid royalties
Claims he was effectively forced out of the company last year
Rockstar said his claims were “entirely without merit”
Benzies lawyer, Locke Lord, claimed Benzies was removed from Rockstar after being ‘enticed’ by the company to take a sabbatical in 2014
Also claims that while on the sabbatical, Mr. Benzies discovered “numerous deceptions” on the part of Take-Two, Rockstar, Rockstar North Ltd, and Rockstar Games co-founders Sam and Dan Houser
Lawsuit alleges that they “sought to force him out of the company and terminate his portion of royalty payments based upon arbitrary actions by the company’s royalty Allocation Committee”
Further alleges that Mr. Benzies attempted to resume his duties on Apr 1st of last year, he “Found himself unable to enter the Rockstar North office” because his access device was deactivated
After being let inside by security, he was ordered to leave by the Rockstar North office manager without reason
Rockstar said “Sadly, the events that culminated in his resignation ultimately stem from his significant performance and conduct issues” regarding Leslie Benzies
Philippines Election Hack is ‘freaking huge’
Source 1: http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2016-04/14/philippines-data-breach-fingerpri
Massive data breach in the Philippines appears to contain millions of fingerprint records
Officials claimed the leak didn’t include biometrics
Earlier this month, security researchers uncovered what appears to be the largest government data breach
Affecting 55 million voters in the Philippines
Data widely distributed on both the dark and clear web
Compromises 228,605 email addresses
1.3 million passport numbers and expiry dates of overseas Filipino works
15.8 million fingerprint records
“If you lose a password you can change it. You can’t change a fingerprint. Short of using a belt sander, it’s not going to be much fun.” - Security Expert Troy Hunt told WIRED
“It’s the data, not the image itself” - Christ Johnson told WIRED
Without the picture, it would be difficult for someone to use the information for identity fraud or other things
When stored digitally, fingerprint data is typically converted into a unique code relating to the patterns know and minutiae
Computer software measures the distance and angle between a series of points, creating a unique map of the print
Code can then be matched whenever the fingerprint is scanned again
Leaked database was a mess, file names suggesting hasty copy-and-pasting of old versions
Attack took place on March 27th
Group describing itself as “Anonymous”
Philippines defacing the website of the Philippines ‘Commission on Elections’ (Comelec)
Not known how the attack was carried out and what security flaws were exploited
Following the breach a second hacker group, LulzSec Pilipinas, posted the database online
Has since been mirrored and widely shared

Uses fixed-pitch blades and is controlled by speed of each rotor
18 propeller-spinning rotors

Contains a triple redundant autopilot function to allow the Volocopter to hold its position in air whenever the pilot lets go of the controls
Easy to use joystick controls
“Compared to traditional aircrafts, flying the Volocopter is much easier for the pilot”
V200 reached 15mph, but the e-volo team is determined to increase the speed up to 60mph on follow up flights

Doesn’t show where this key came from
Government lawyers spent two years fighting in a Montreal courtroom to keep the information out of public record
Nor the RCMP or BlackBerry confirmed this to be true

Oh I like the whole "stupid shit teachers say angle" - my turn!
When I was in 7th-8th grade (age 13ish) my performing arts/public speaking teacher was checking a fake speech I wrote on the topic of saving the rain forest. I mentioned spider monkeys and she left a comment saying "spider monkeys are spiders, not monkeys". When she handed it back to me I questioned her and we had a full on yelling argument where I was defending the existence of a monkey and she was saying there was no such thing and the only real life "spider monkey" was an insect....
This was before smart phones and mobile internet machines so I had to go home, print out the article on spider monkeys (with pics) and bring it to her the next day. I was accused of faking the articles...
Lady probably still thinks spider monkeys are insects to this day...
[edit]
Spiders are not insects, they're abominations from the deepest pits of Tartarus aka Arachnids....
If you want to be safe get a xeon (Fairly new) off ebay and a motherboard that works with it with ecc memory support. But if you don't need enterprise reliability then that should be fine. Just make sure the PSU is reliable.
Find another pc and copy the same bios that worked before you updated onto a usb stick in the root folder. Plug it in to the computer, turn it on and wait overnight. i think.
