The HDD failed in my friends laptop and the only OS I had was windows 10. So I installed it onto a new HDD and have no idea how to get drivers to work for this GPU on such a old laptop.

If everything else fails, you can try these, they helped many people that had issues with legacy cards/chips. They work on my mobility x1600 on Win 7 and 8.1, haven't checked Win 10.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
