Shimejii got a reaction from Mando772004 in How do you know if prefer cache is actually working?
There is no fix. This is why 7950x3D is a terrible to use if you do just gaming or mixed workloads. You either have to disable cores or figure out what works best since the Prefer cores or cached cores has been shown to not function properly. Theres been quite a few posts about this and nothing really gets it to work perfectly every time.

Shimejii got a reaction from Linuswasright in In terms of features, are NVidia GPUs far superior than AMD?
For most people, No they dont offer much more. For more creative people, sure i can see a bit more helpful things on Nvidia cards. Other then that this seems like a rage bait trying to rile up the rabid fanbases.

If they perform the same, and often times at least some of the cards do, it comes down to what you want. Nvidia is way ahead for ray tracing performance. Given that a lot of games are now starting to really lean into it with the newer Unreal engine.

I hate this mounting mechanism, i 100% prefer the 4 screw method over this. Its pretty much getting the first one started then looping the other side in and wiggling it to get both to fit. Takes a lot of wiggling.

Its coilwhine, pretty much either put the computer further away from you, get a case with more sound dampening, or learn different ways of dealing with it. Can try manual fan speeds to see if that helps with counteracting the noise, but its not going to really do anything about it.

Otherwise not much else you can do.

Shimejii got a reaction from xg32 in Help me pick a QD-Oled monitor
You can tell Gen 1 to gen 2 based on their names and description.

Avoid the DELL one and the Samsung one (Unless you want the Matte display and potential headache of dealing with Samsung CS), your choices will be between the Gigabyte, Asus, And MSI model. ASUS has had the brighter panels in the past for OLEDS, Gigabyte usually has some of the most affordable options, and MSI has that AI assisted gameplay thing.

If i had to chose one, probably the ASUS but do not expect them to ever actually fulfill the warranty for burn in. ASUS is a trash company for a reason nowadays for their awful CS. Gigabyte has been shown to be pretty reliable for monitors. MSI will have a NON AI version for cheaper, an the AI version costing a bit more.

Price wise expect the ASUS to be the most expensive, Gigabyte and MSI to be better priced.

Do not buy a product with the promise of future features, especially not from apple for 3500$ with skimped parts. Honestly nothing from what ive seen makes this seem anything other then a failure.

Panel alone is almost worth the full price of the monitor. Not really worth it sadly. How exactly did it fall over as these dont generally fall over unless you had a push over accident o.o

Shimejii got a reaction from Hakiroto in HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4 for 4090 and 4K 240 Hz OLED?
Because its pretty pointless as these monitors COME with the cables you need. DP 2.0/2.1 cables arent useful on a 4090.  Also this monitor doesnt have DP 2.1 either, so far only the Gigabyte one does, that one will probably come with it 🙂 Dont need to spend money you dont have to.

It honestly sounds like you just like wasting money to just say you have it rather then what you need o.o If it makes you happy then so be it.

If it sounds too good to be true it is. Use your common sense. If a card that hasnt sold for less then 900$ is 650$? That should raise major red flags. Avoid impulsive and bad choices. Its  a scam, its going to be under a third part seller.

Shimejii got a reaction from DeerDK in Which gpu for 1440p or 4K? Nvidia or AMD
4k Is really only good with 4080/4090 7900XT/7900XTX, and if you want Ray tracing thats mostly NVIDIA as they are far ahead of AMD with that.

You cannot get both Low -mid price GPU AND 4k Ray tracing with good performance. You can see if a used 3080 is available in your price region, otherwise its going to be finding what fits your budget the best.

#1 Yes it should be, just needs a bios update.

#2 Yes,  it is by far the best gaming CPU on AM4.

#3. With your GPU its gonna be a decent bump, but with a much faster GPU it would be double to triple the performance in some games. I would consider getting a better GPU.

your hotspot is a bit higher then theirs, but still within spec, anything under 100c is considered "Acceptable" by manufactures. You can certainly contact who you bought it from and see if it would be considered for RMA, but if its not causing any clock throttling they probably wont accept it.

Shimejii got a reaction from Needfuldoer in 14900kf Delidding and direct die AIO. Thoughts?
Pretty much never worth it due to the cost of replacing the CPU if you do it wrong. Just voltage tune and be good.
Most of the claims by AIO companies just want you to buy their cooler. Unless they are using a unique pump/rad, the only real difference is that their fans probably go MUCH faster but also becomes much louder.  So usually that is your trade off.

Delidding can be helpful, but you should really be experienced before attempting it with your top of the line CPU.
