Help me pick a QD-Oled monitor

Psittac

I want a 32+" 4k QD-Oled with the best HDR support, everything else is just icing on the cake.  I'm assuming that they're all going to have the same panels.  Also how do I determine if it's gen1 or gen2 qd-oled?  I'm assuming that since the 16x9 32" just hit the market, it's going to be gen2

Also I might be able to sway my purchase towards a 32x9 aspect ratio or similar.

Again I just want big size, high resolution and bright HDR

Here is my current setup where the middle monitor will be replaced by this monitor I'm looking for, any other solution would have to replace all 3

You can tell Gen 1 to gen 2 based on their names and description.

Avoid the DELL one and the Samsung one (Unless you want the Matte display and potential headache of dealing with Samsung CS), your choices will be between the Gigabyte, Asus, And MSI model. ASUS has had the brighter panels in the past for OLEDS, Gigabyte usually has some of the most affordable options, and MSI has that AI assisted gameplay thing.

If i had to chose one, probably the ASUS but do not expect them to ever actually fulfill the warranty for burn in. ASUS is a trash company for a reason nowadays for their awful CS. Gigabyte has been shown to be pretty reliable for monitors. MSI will have a NON AI version for cheaper, an the AI version costing a bit more.

Price wise expect the ASUS to be the most expensive, Gigabyte and MSI to be better priced.

Focus on the models launched at CES last month, the 240Hz options. All the latest stuff. AFAIK the Alienware is the only that's been shipping to customers.

I'm personally more into the WOLED models but all the QD-OLED's (listed as just "OLED") launched there are also listed below.

Now that you have model numbers, you can lookup existing coverage and discussion. /r/OLED_Gaming is a hotspot for this kind of thing right now.

after doing my homework (even though im not updating this gen) it's just down to a glossy qd-oled panel, aspect ratio of ur choice. Appearantly the brands can also decide whether it's flat or curved (i'm against curved for 16:9) so if it's not available yet, a newer model will come out later

Samsung appearantly has better panels this year for the big tvs so i'm curious how that will look.

Thank you everyone for the input, I almost pulled the trigger on an odyssey g9 oled but couldn't get the finances sorted out.

I find that I'm shopping by two criteria, QD-oled and big

I'm planning on going to the bank in the morning and purchase the g9 oled tomorrow, what are the thing's I should think about considering this monitor?  I honestly don't even know if it's a glossy or matte finish but I have an 8fft aquarium behind me so I'd say either will work out.  Either I get a better picture or I don't have to deal with aquarium lighting getting in the way.  I'm thinking that I will put one of my ultrawides above it and be basically where I'm at now but with some oled goodness.

I've noticed that everyone lists the specs differently but I have a feeling they're all going to be pretty similar.  I'm just choosing form factor aka size over everything.

And for a refresher can I get the logic behind choosing woled over qdoled?  I almost pulled the trigger on that 48" lg oled for far less but the nit's weren't quite what I wanted.

I find that this is just an overwhelming smorgasbord of thing's to focus on while making my decision.

If brightness and color accuracy are your top priorities, a QD-OLED display might be a better choice. However, if you’re concerned about burn-in and cost, a WOLED display could be more suitable

This is Gen 2 and it is glossy. I am using it and no regret.

But this monitor is 5120x1440, 32:9 aspect ratio and 49” which equal to 27” height but longer.

this is probably the best direct comparison of last gen on youtube, time stamped, QD-OLED's alot better than WOLED in the dark and in bright scenes and alot worse in a bright room.

never really got 3 monitor setups when you could just get a new 55 in tv and use it with gigantic black bars and split the screens minus the bezels. no bezels. what do you guys say? do you have a reason in getting 3 monitors over a big tv, and tv i mean 0.2ms oled tv I had a 3 monitor setup before and the response times on my tv are just as good if not better. tvs have come a long way.

Some of us enjoy desktop real-estate. Sure one 4K display is great but why not more space.
