I do alot of PDF creation in my line of work unfortunately, and fillable forms are a godsend.  I cant imagine having everything in doc format.  So even if DLL and crew dont see the advantages of PDF, I do.  Digital signatures in word docs are kind of a joke, and controlling your documents integrity is alot simpler due to enhancements available in the PDF format.  I'm with team PDF.

Make sure all the switches are gigabit, make sure the Ethernet wires are all cat 5e or better, and make sure all devices are reading their connection as gigabit. You should easily be getting gigabit speeds. An SSD can write at 500 MBps which is 4000gigabit per second, a harddrive will do ~120, which is ~1gigabit. So even if your cache isn’t working right, your getting speeds indicative of a 100 megabit network which suggests a networking issue or an old switch or Ethernet cable somewhere in the chain.

your ssd is there it just isn't formatted

Right click on all those partitions on the ssd and remove them ( if that's what you want to do) then click the entire open space and create a new volume and format it to anything , it'll then show up in windows and can be seen by file explorer or be cloned to with drive copy software

Put the .pst on a network share both VMs have access to. It will work the same as if you have 2 pcs logged into the same network account, which is that you'll sometimes get sync issues, but a restart of outlook solves them.

Although I try to stay far away from applications that utilize proprietary file formats (like PST files), I can't imagine there would be an issue if the Outlook app on both VMs fully and properly closed out the file when they were done with it.

    dual290x reacted to Windows7ge in 4x10Gbit (40Gbit) Fiber-optic SAN/iPXE Network Boot Build Log
This is a project I've been meaning to get off the ground for quite some time. Given my work schedule I only predict I'll be able to work on it and post updates once a week so to all who chose to follow along I ask for your patience. 🙂

For those clicking because they're not familiar with the SAN & iPXE terminologies:

This is a special network project I've been planning and have had in the works for a number of months. Finally I have everything I need to get it started and I figured some of you might like to follow along. I plan to write a full tutorial based on what ends up working here if you'd like to try building something like this yourself.

The focus of this build log is to setup a small series of servers so that they all boot off of a network resource. The reasons for doing this are:
Ease of Repairability Reduce Downtime Ease of Scalability Overall it's very cool to me and I want to play with it. :3 The build log is going to consist of four main stages:
Preparing the network hardware (assembling, configuring, firmware updates) Setting up our hypervisor server (installing NICs, configuring IP's, preparing Virtual Machines) Configuring the hosting servers (iSCSI & DHCP servers) Setting up the client servers (establishing iSCSI connections, installing OS's from scratch) In the end these client servers will act as nodes and with this network additional nodes will be added in the future.

For the time being this is the network hardware we'll be working with:

2x PCIe-10G-SFP+ made by TG-NET based on the BCM57810S controller.

These will be installed in the hypervisor server and will be in charge of hosting the virtual disks our nodes will boot from.

    3x 10Gbe SFP+ Mellanox ConnectX-2 MNPA19-XTR network cards

These 10 Gigabit NIC's are very old but very cool for networking aficionados, did I mention they're cheap? 😛

    14x FiberStore 10G SFP+ 850nm 300m transceivers.

These are cheap SFP+ modules that convert the electrical signals that the NIC puts out and converts them to laser light signals that we can hook-up our fiber patch cables to.

    7x OFNR LC/UPC-LC/UPC 50/125 OM4 Multimode Fiber-optic patch cables

These are a inexpensive glass/ceramic composite fiber optic patch cables. They're easy to get and are good for short runs. I've only tested them for 10Gig up to 50ft but I'm sure you can use them for longer runs.

Tonight is just an introduction. I will try to get something started tomorrow. I'm excited to get this underway and to try and overcome the hurdles I'll inevitably have to cross.

GParted did the trick. I had to CHKDSK the C Volume before I could complete the process but I got it done. Thanks for the suggestions.
You were correct. GParted allowed me to move everything when nothing else would.
@Murasaki had the solution. Thanks for the suggestion.

dual290x reacted to Murasaki in Unable to Extend Volume after System Image Restored
I think its not letting you because they're not in the right order. Unallocated space needs to be adjacent to the target volume you want to extend (like right after it with no other paritions in the way). In your case its before it and in between so thats.. far from ideal.. Not sure if creating extra partitions or swapping letters will align them better... need to be doing that myself to figure it out. Windows' disk managment tools have limitations and I see EaseUS' parition manager didn't do the job for you... then maybe try a live usb of GParted. It supports managing Windows volumes and might be more flexible.

Of course I would like to mention to have backups on hand before performing such operations.

2-in-1 Laptop: The draw (heh) here, over other non-touchscreen laptops, is the stylus. Rather than fiddle with the trackpad or pull up close-but-not-quite images off Google, I can just draw the image or write the equation next to my typed-out notes. I also type significantly faster than I write. IEMs: I need constant music in my ears while studying or otherwise on my lonesome (e.g. grocery shopping, walk-running between classes). For more pragmatic, less entertainment-focused reasons, they're used to listen to past lectures or podcasts while I'm in no-noise study areas. Personal Room: Sharing a room with another is distracting, especially if they're the messy, oblivious, or careless type. I need a clean, clutter-free space to study in. Dorm-life is still acceptable, so long as I have a room to myself.

I'd like to know what your top three must-haves are for school. They can be tech or non-tech-related. This could help upcoming college students.

    For me, they are:
    1. Bottle of Tums, I get a lot of heartburn the last month of every semester even after taking o.t.c. acid reducer. I consumer half a bottle every semester.
    2. Closed Headphones, keeps outside noise to a minimum so I can focus a little better when listening to lectures or mindless music.
    3. A treadmill or space to walk, I mindlessly walk when I'm reading books and articles or when I am thinking about my papers, so a hallway or a treadmill is helpful.

My Masters program is literature/theology based and online, so as long as my computer works, the aboved mentioned is all that I need.

There was a guy who worked for my dad at the local computer shop that did everything from personal PCs to a couple of million-dollar companies. He got a degree at the local university and learned a little but nothing was able to beat learning hands-on and going to certification classes. Because of his certifications and knowledge, he now works at the local hospital in a nice cushy position. The other guy left for the hospital as well. Formal education is nice but certifications are needed if you really want to make yourself stand out and move up the ladder.

If I may suggest, start educating yourself on the software side of things. Hardware will only allow you to go so far.
