alextulu got a reaction from mrchow19910319 in Macs are SLOWER than PCs. Here’s why.
Linus doesn't know why Apple prioritizes iPhones over Macs? Well, that's easy. They sell more iPhones than Macs.

As of Android 5, apps are compiled ahead-of-time to native code when they install. You don't need the native SDK anymore.

I suspect that these 20 million are the ones who think that you always need to upgrade to the newest and most expensive GPU as soon as it comes out, or that you only have to buy Nvidia.

As if that's going to be cheap.

alextulu got a reaction from Mihle in EU Take censorship of the internet to the next level
What they voted for is an amended version, which excludes small businesses.

    https://juliareda.eu/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Copyright_Sept12_Voss.pdf
The EU's definition of small business is less than 50 employees and less than €10 million in either turnover or balance sheet.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_and_medium-sized_enterprises#European_Union

So, if Linus Media Group has less than 50 employees and makes less than €10 million per year, than it won't need a filter for the Linus Tech Tips forum in order to be accessed from the EU.

It also excludes "service providers that act in a non-commercial purpose capacity such as online encyclopaedia"  (Wikipedia), "Providers of cloud services for individual use which do not provide direct access to the public" (Google Drive, Dropbox) and "open source software developing platforms" (Github).

So, I was on the autobahn in Germany, and saw some overhead lines being built, like the ones for trains.

Unlike the Tesla truck, with this one you don't have to worry about range.

Passangers? You must be talking about trolleybuses. This is different.

Trolleybuses can't disconnect from the overhead lines, and can't overtake each other.

These trucks were designed to dynamically connect and disconnect from the lines.

I found the forum post at 1:12. It's this one: https://superuser.com/questions/961171/run-32bit-applications-on-windows-10-64-bit

If you scroll down, you'll see this:
The problem was 16 bit, not 32 bit. The user just didn't pay attention.

Also WoW64 is not an emulator. WoW64 simply has a 32 bit version of each DLL in Windows. 32 bit programs run natively on 64 bit Windows.
Emulation only happends on Itanium CPUs.

Drivers, on the other hand, are a different story. Drivers must be must be 64 bit.

The reason why old games don't work is a bit more complicated:
The developers sometimes use undocumented features in the API. Microsoft promises backwards compatibility only for features found in Microsoft's official documentation. AMD and NVIDIA sometimes remove features from older versions of DirectX from their drivers, which is why Windows now has a full blown DirectX emulator just in case (but only works with DirectX 9 and newer, and with the DirectX 11 runtime and newer): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Advanced_Rasterization_Platform
