corsair RM750

I was just wondering is this particular power supply any good? Because I heard a lot of bad things about course there's power supplies the reason why I'm interested in this power supply is because I can get red sleeved cables and it will compliment my build. but is this power supply any good

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX GPU: AMD RX 6800M RAM: 16GB  SSD: 500GB NVME

i have one of those in my own system, cant say anything bad about it so far.

Same, I have the RM850i though.

GTX 980 Ti / 5820k / 16 GB DDR4 / 500 GB SSD / ATH-M50X

it's say skip Rm 650-750 as i have seen many bad complaints everywhere, RM 850-1000 are not the same as they have different caps altogether, i have RM 850 on my own.

The cables are such a fucking pain.

 

 

Buing Corsair is like buying Apple (for the brand) so I would get a SeaSonic unit over that any day.

i always ask these people where they get their data from.

so far i've seen one article that had the entire RM series pretty much on par with other power supplies, except the RM1000 which failed one test at 110% load.

(rest of the stats was on par as well)

just because you havent encountered people having the issues with it doesn't exist. we talked about this before.  lets not derail this any longer :)

Well, initially, the power supplies were made by SeaSonic which was great and all tests passed. Perfect.

 

However, much like the V300 SSDs, Corsair changed the innerds and now they're made by (I think) FSP. They used to be held together by screws. Now they're held together by hot melt. A sign of cost-saving measures that Corsair wanted to make. They had excellent reviews initially but it's not the same power supply you're buying now.

 

Also the cables are a pile of arse so swerve.

The cables could be better, they're flat ribbon style cables. When they come in the packaging, they like to keep their shape, so it helps to unbend them completely first.

Keep the psu you currently have and get sleeved cables for it. EVGA supernova power supplies are amazing and really well built.

Flat so they can't bend round corners or unfold from their factory position of folded.

 

I cannot get the kinks out of them. They just look atrocious. Want to install it in restricted space? You'll have to separate the ribbon of wires into individual wires because the ribbon nature makes it near impossible to install properly. Plus, the 24-pin looks strange when installed neatly.

 

They are literally the worst cables Corsair could've installed possible on this power supply (and on all of their new ones I believe).

Needless to say, I've swerved Corsair for customer builds in recent years. I usually go with XFX, SeaSonic or BeQuiet.

Yes, the cables are tad stiff at first, but after a while they do tend to be a little more flexible for cable routing. Overall, I am not really seeing any good reason to avoid the RM. Of course we've seen RMAs here and there, but none of the issues reported that I would consider alarming.

I am sure that you are referring to the Chicony RMs that have Chinese caps on the secondary. Those SKUs are now EOL, the currect RM650-750 are now from CWT which are now the same OEM like your RM850.

Keep the psu you currently have and get sleeved cables for it. EVGA supernova power supplies are amazing and really well built.

 

 

About the Supernova - if it's the G1 series 750W then it would be an upgrade to an RM series. Poor voltage regulation is more dangerous (at least in my experience with hard drives that die because crappy PSUs) than medium quality capacitors. Yes, the RM is not great value for the money but it's a bit of a performance upgrade. G2 series is far better though.

 

Yes, the cables are tad stiff at first, but after a while they do tend to be a little more flexible for cable routing. Overall, I am not really seeing any good reason to avoid the RM. I am sure that you are referring to the Chicony RMs that have Chinese caps on the secondary. Those SKUs are now EOL, the currect RM650-750 are now from CWT which are now the same OEM like your RM850.

Yes I love the supernova but the sleeved cables for it are sold out EVERYWHERE T.T

Try ice mods or cable mod. if you cant get anything from there, you can use cable mod's diy kit that has pre crimped and cut wires so all you need to do is plug them into the connectors correctly.

I have one as well and have had no problems at all. I still don't know why people complain about them.

I would get a G2 or a GS or a XTR or if you like overspending an RMi
