Go to solution Solved by Suika,

And another quick one. IS Radeon R9 380 better than GTX 960. I've seen comparasons, but because r9 380 is new there are not much info, but in my view its better, so whats you opinion?

GREATINGS! I was originally going to buy and Intel core i5-4690 processor, but a friend (amd fan) recommended AMD FX-9590. So whitch one is better with Radeon R9 380 4gb?

i5 for sure. Not question about it.

Go for the i5 4690K so you can overclock too

Intel always.

AMD should really only be considered when discussing graphics cards.

Go for the i5, it's a lot better than the FX chip, mainly due to less heat output and newer, stronger cores.

If you plan on turning your computer into a microwave oven, then use the 9590.

Yup.. Like all the others have said, get the i5. AMD has been WEAK on the CPU side of things for years now. Barely keeping up with Intel, if at all. Remains to be seen if their new Zen CPUs will help them.. Not holding my breath though.

Assuming you're building a gaming system, the i5-4590 is better just on flat out gaming performance. And it's much better on price considering it's cheaper. And it uses significantly less than half the power, so you don't need to pair it with an expensive high end motherboard like you are absolutely 100% required to do with the FX-9590. And you can run an i5-4590 great on the stock cooler most of the time, so no need to buy that $100 Corsair H100i. So if you want better performance for a lot less money, go i5-4590.

and if you're a streamer on a budget. regular gamer yes still even an i3, but the FX line is a damn good bargin if you're a streamer. encodes the stream output with little FPS inpact, if any. :D (simply due to twice as many cores and threads as most games and AMD has always been better at encoding :P

yeah.

i5, or wait for Skylake and Zen. Only buy a 9590 if you're looking for a multiple purpose heater unit that can do a bit of computing on the side.

The R9 380 isn't as new as it seems, as it's basically a rebranded R9 285. It's performance is about equal to the GTX 960 on average, either slightly slower or slightly faster depending on the game: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-geforce-gtx-960,4038-4.html

I'm seeing a lot more GTX 960's available for $200 or less, and R9 380's more like $210+. At these prices I'd probably opt for a GTX 960.

And goodness, yes, stay away from the FX-9590.
