Microsoft's super-stable video recording arrives (PCs and phones)

GoodBytes

Microsoft releases its super-stable video recording technology called Microsoft Hyperlapse, developer at Microsoft Research. The technology stabilizes video recordings using complex algorithm to deliver super stable viewing experience. Shaky cam no more.

Much like Instagram's software, the algorithmic tools whittle down your shaky footage into high-speed, smooth clips that your friends are more likely to watch. The big differences are in the amount of control you get. You can zip beyond Instagram's 6x speed limit, for example, and the desktop app (Hyperlapse Pro) uses 3D modelling to steady the footage from GoPros and other common action cameras.

says Engadget.

The app is available currently for Windows PCs, Azure platform, Windows Phone 8.1, an Android. No iOS, with no plans for it, due to similar idea competitor of this technology already available on it, the company claims. The app is in preview stages, and is free (except the Azure one, of course).

To get it, head over here: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/hyperlapseapps/

Good thing it doesn't support iOS, too many apps have priority for iOS over Android. Son of a bitch. I've been wanting PHHHOTO for so long for freaking android already.

Its not necessarily a good thing. More platforms means more feedback. But I see what you mean, at least it's prioritized on android.

Really, it's because most of the people at my school don't understand how to use Android. It's all about just iPhones and Macbooks. Never android phones and PCs. We should start a revolution to get everyone to use android, but hey, its their decision.

You could always use the windows app. But I don't really see the point, I just want a seemless experience. I'm not too bothered that I have to wait, I most likely will forget about it and come across it again and download it. :)

Hopefully they add the OnePlus to their support list. Judging by the amount of comments that ask for it I won't be surprised.

Android will be supported, so expect it. But what's wrong with the Cyanogenmod camera?

Am its not really good. You need a modded version or the Color OS one to get great results.

And the CyanogenMod cam does not have an anti shake cam algorithm in it :P

there was a thread on this a while back; and it only smooths(is that even a word O_o?) time lapses.

God forbid people use whatever makes them happy and god forbid people like you don't get upset that people don't use whatever tech you're a fanboy of.
