Cooling fans

Nikhil1000

Mobiles don't heat up that much (although there are tablets with fans), and some TVs do have fans as well.

Any unknown button should be pressed even number of times.

Becuase they're passively cooled, A.K.A they are specially designed to operate at lower temperatures, usually at cost of performance, that they don't need fans.

Because mobiles are passively cooled and some TV's do have fans.

Phones don't get as hot too

Mobile's and TV don't generate enough heat to need a fan. Besides, imagine how it would be to have a fan in your phone! It would vibrate all the time and it would be loud and thick as hell.

Even a desktop CPU or GPU can run without fans on lite loads. For mobile's, a heatsink (or not even that) is enough and most of the TV's dont even have those.

Phones passively cool the main components by spreading the heat out usually across the back casing of the phone. One of the main benefits of metal cased phones over plastic cased phones is that they theoretically can keep the main components inside the phone cooler since the metal obviously conducts the heat away from the components a lot better. Unfortunately, this can lead to sweaty hand syndrome, but the phone internals theoretically might last longer.

Mine doesn't

I guess some do.

See spoiler.

Just a random inside of a TV found on Google.

Some TV's do have fans. But most just have passive heatsinks instead.

As for phones, it would add a lot of bulk to the phone that isn't really needed. It would also likely be one of the first components to fail if used on a phone.

Ancient tech, obviously.

A TV is still a TV.

If your TV had a fan it would have to very quiet. No airflow noise or motor noise. Otherwise it would be very distracting when the quiet part of a show or movie is on.

Fan on a mobile would be way to cumbersome. And most fans under 40mm are a big waste of time. Since they have to go very fast to make any airflow. And then comes the noise of a small fan.

Plasma TVs need fans because of the heat generated... But any non-plasma TV that needs fans is just poorly engineered.

Agree. Most older Plasmas had fans. Some of the later ones did not, as they were able to reduce heat output quite a bit (though they are still thicker to allow airflow inside the chassis). Those without fans work like the original iMac... they are convection-cooled.
