i know some one that payed around 1000$

 

 

he had that 3G sim data plan on his laptop and didnt know it would go over the limit

he thought it would just stop when it reached its cap

On my mobile plan, about £10 because I was doing a little bit of texting whilst abroad in Germany, but I disabled data whilst there.

On other amounts, at some point soon I'm sure I'll have to pay a £10 on the spot fine for being over the limit in charge of a bicycle. It's risky business cycling back from house parties :P but that has yet to happen, so let's hope it doesn't.

CenturyLink is nice and either doesn't impose data caps or that their data cap is far above what we use a month (I'm guessing we use well over 20GB a month since we use Netflix as our primary source of watching TV).

$800 in texting fees. My carier had an error in their billing/contract system, so my sister's unlimited texting became pay per text, 7000 text messages latter, my parents were not pleased.

$47 for going over my 2Gb data cap on Verizon. How much data did I go over? 137Kb.

 

What makes 137Kb so expensive? Well:

  • $20 to jump my plan from 2Gb to 4Gb(because 4Gb was totally necessary for my Kb's used)
  • $7 Processing fee
  • $20 for going over my data early in my contract(I had 2 months left in my 24 month contract btw)

The best part was that I wasn't able to negotiate any of it. I'm now on T-Mobile and have gone over my data 3 times and I have been charged $0 for doing so.

Screw Verizon Wireless.

And no Verizon, I'm not coming back.

So far not anything, but I have a feeling we should expect a $25 overcharge at the end of the month according to Telus' overcharge rates.

around 90$ for 2 or 3 megabytes.

the network provider supposed to let me know with an SMS when I used %90 of the data plan but nope I was watching a video and bam. First I received a notice of using 2 or 3 megabytes and that costing me 90$ then I receive a SMS letting me know that I used %90 of my plan. This was like 2 years ago and thanks to data cap features on CM10+ I never exceeded my data cap after that.

I've done without internet for long periods, worst one was my trip to Buenos Aires since the land lore didn't check to see if the internet was working and we had no idea who the provider was anyway so it took us like 3 days to finally get internet connection. However I managed just ok by watching TV those couple days and of course walking around town and such, very nice city btw.

When I ordered a t-shirt from Tek Syndicate, I had to pay £15 import tax ontop of £30 postage. I can accept the postage as it came from America, but I wish the import tax was added on at the start to make things easier.
