Just because it's the same process does not mean they're making the same thing.

They already have a roadmap set out for GPUs though. Let's wait and see, but I would put a ton of money on it being a mobile processor.

in all likelyhood nvidia and amd will move to 20nm for q3 2015 and TSMC will only have enough finfet production volume at that point for mobile applications such as mobile and tegra initially.
dont hold your breath just yet.

edit-they could release the 880 on 28nm very soon though and do a die shrink to 20nm later.....its not like they didnt do die shrinks before (280>285)..

Gm204 is 480mm, 3200 cuda cores would make it over 600mm. WIth it being 35% better than the 2560 Core gm204 chip coming next month. that "supposely" Gm204 chip is either what gm204 was suppose to be or Gm200.

you posted the link with gtx 880 specs. It says 3200 cores on 28nm. the die would be bigger than GK110. but the last pcb picture we saw of GM204 was smaller than gk110 but a little bigger than Hawaii.

That depends on yields. 22nm was great for Intel, but 20 has been a giant flop for all companies involved. They very well could skip down to 16 to get an order way ahead of AMD.

Actually, if companies like Nvidia can get 16nm chips manufactured by TSMC, then I would see no reason why AMD can't use that technology too.

But AMD is already contracted for 20nm and doesn't have the war chest to move as fast. It will be interesting to see.

As per your *dafuq?* That sometimes happens where a particular process shrink, the way it's done and by how much, can seriously hurt yield, Intel knew this which is why they went to 22nm instead of 20. Some ratios of shrinks and soakings are easier to work with than others.
