660ti vs 760?

Dubesta11

I can get a 660ti in Boston for 180, and in my research its about as good as a 760. For this price, would it be worth the upgrade from a 650ti boost? (1080p gaming, I can already almost play everything I want on high settings)

No. The bare minimum upgrade I could recommend is a 780. But if the 800 series is ever released, I would hold on and wait for it.

The 660 Ti and 760 are similar.

Why upgrade if you can play your games just fine?

It's my understanding that the 760 is slightly faster than the 660 ti, but 180 is pretty cheap. If it happens to be a 3gb card, and you don't care about g-sync, I'd go for it.

Edit: Just saw the part about upgrading from a 650 ti boost. Nvm, I'd hold off for the eventual 800 series.

That won't be for at least another few months, and I am buying in a few weeks

Why should I consider getting a 780 when I am only going to be playing at 1080p...

Because I would like to play more fluently (60fps+) instead of having to compensate with lower settings.

Its a 2gb card, which is more than enough for what I need (and for the possible SLI route). And the 800 series will be even more expensive than the 700, which is not an option for what I am going to be doing.

I feel like everyone doesn't think about people on a budget, "You have a 100 dollar card, well, you need to upgrade to a 400 dollar card to see an improvement", what good would this do me? My maximum budget would be 200 dollars, and that's pushing it. The only reason I am considering doing the upgrade now is because of the deals at microcenter.

The 660 Ti is a solid buy in that case at $180.

The 660 ti for $180 is a better value than the 760, but upgrading from 650 ti boost to 660 ti for $180 just doesn't seem worth it to me. If it is to you, go 660 ti over 760.

according to GPUBoss ,760 tops the 660TI in Gaming performance by a margin 0.1~0.2% ,but still they rated both at 7.5/10

660Ti came out after 760 ,so it's newer Gen ,but still i say go for a 760 ,with an aftermarket Cooler ,just because it's a 700Series

The 660 ti is a great card for that price! I used an overclocked reference 660 ti at 2560x1440 and got a solid 60 frames in BF4 with AA turned off and all settings set to high/medium(on lighting and effects) and the scaling at 90. Beast card. If i were on a strict budget, i'd gladly sell my 780 and go back to a 660 ti.

Is it really worth spending an extra 80 dollars on a slightly faster card with a better cooler? I have an H55 that I could use to cool the card as well.

Wasn't the arcihtecture delayed until 2015?

Save up for a 770. Can't go wrong.

Future games that are more demanding, higher framerates, more detail, more consistent framerates.

A 660 Ti is def a better card then a 650 ti. The thing is how much better? It is worth getting this card for how much boost you will be getting? I would say that is for you to decide. It def gives better performance and you will def see it. $180 dollars is a good price as well. You can sell your 650 ti for almost what you got it for, maybe like 100-115 dollars. So, if you really think you need some better performance I say go for it, otherwise maybe wait for buying a better card. $180 is a pretty good price.

A 660Ti is still a pretty good card, no matter how you look at it, and that would be the best price/performance upgrade for him IMO. It's just my opinion, too.
