I'm considering a new m-itx build. Any suggestions on cases that aren't mass produced?

SinisterVirtue

I've picked out some parts I liked Asus motherboard, Intel i7-8700k, 32 gbs ram, corsair sfx 600w psu. I'm going to buy a new m.2 SSD. I want a case that can handle a full-length EVGA GTX 1080 ti or RTX 2080 ti.

what do you mean by this and why would it matter?

I use a fractal design define nano S. It's small but not compact. can fit basically any double slot card

There's alot of companies that make m-itx cases that aren't on newegg, amazon, etc. Like a boutique case.

by RTX did you mean EVGA's lineup as well? o_o the 2080/ti cards are pretty large this generation, and not many SFF cases are prepared for that ._.

The NCase M1 can do 3-slot cards, but the length needs some due diligence work before actually buying the case and the GPU

I'm going with custom loop cooling on the graphics card as well, I'm just waiting to see if the prices dip on the 2080ti's before making my decision. Leaning towards a 1080 ti currently, simply because I feel the 20 series is overpriced and without tlss and rtx support, I don't see the need just yet.

Not only that but also the Power Consumption is an issue as the GPU department is usually not getting that good airflow so the fans spin higher and it gets louder...

I'd not go over RX480 Power Consumption (~150-175W) if I'd build a small PC.

A 250W GPU isn't for a Small Form Factor one.

Also the i7 isn't something I'd choose, I'd go with a Ryzen 2700 because its the best compromize and has a soldered lid. And you'd be able to get away with a Noctua NH-L9x65 more easily than with the i7. And in some cases you have to go as low as an NH-L9i/a but could replace the fan with a 25mm thick 92mm fan (wich is recommended to use a "normal size" fan!)

That would make sense if I was going for passive cooling, but I'm going to be doing a custom loop. I've read that the Corsair SF450 can more then handle a GTX 1080 ti just fine, but that's why I'm opting for a SF600. Also I use to be red team and then once I switched to blue team all my hardware issues went away, I'll likely never go back to AMD.

Even then, you have to get something out and Custom loop and µITX is not something that's really possible with real ITX Cases.

The ones that do allow it are so big that you can go with µATX or full ATX instead without much difference in Size...

Yeah, because you probably did AMD like many other people and gotten the cheapest crap with an even worse PSU and then wonder why it has Problems.

Or maybe gotten a Gigabyte Board. Those aren't great either...

Someone told me about an X99 Board that only worked with a DDR4-2100 4GiB stick in a certain slot.

So its not like there ain't no problems with Intel. The difference is that people don't whine about it and fix them...

Also it seems to me that people tend to do more research when getting Intel systems as well...

And it might also be possible that you got dead hardware, happens sometimes. That's what the Warranty is for...

With AMD I used MSI motherboards and Corsair power supplies. Last AMD build was with an AMD Phenom II x4 980. The mainboard was $300 and I had to RMA it 3 times before they sent me a board that wasn't DOA or didn't short after a few weeks of ownership. I've never skimped on hardware. Most builds are between $1500 to $3000. With that being said, I won't purchase anything from MSI either.

Well, MSI are hit and miss.

Some are good, some are crap. Was happy with my K9N2 Platinum, but it died a couple of weeks ago...

as all nForce Boards do...

What Board did you get?
I couldn't find an MSI around that price. The only one I'd think about would have been the K9N2 Diamond with nForce 980a - wich is a piece of shit or rather a 750a with an nForce 200 between PCIe and Chipset. That could have been in that area.

The 790FX-GD70 could also have been one of the Boards...

Problem is: if you go too high, you're getting more trouble for the money for no real benefit.

The best is somewhere in the middle...

Well, I have a ton of MSI Boards, some where better than others, had a ton of ASUS Boards and tbh: ASUS tends to consume way more power than MSI or Biostar.

Just because one system didn't run properly for whatever reason isn't really a reason to never buy from one again, especially if one of the partys involved can't do anything about that (AMD in this case)...

If you want to SLI, why not just go Micro-ATX instead? just wondering, it can be very compact but so much easier to work with and will give every thing space to breath... literally.

mATX

For mITX, Loque Ghost S1 will give you better flexibility for custom watercooling over similar cases like the NCase M1 or Dan CAse A4/C4.

And these are all assuming you're looking for the "smallest ITX case possible", not "relatively small"

Yes, the case.

Those are on the upper end and from the space they take rather close to µATX Boards and in some of those you could even use  µATX Boards with a different layout/arrangement.

That was what I was trying to say...

And that kinda defeats the purpose of µITX, doesn't it?

If you want a Water cooling a small/shitty Case like the Aerocool QS-200 is hardly any bigger and allows 3x120mm fans...
