Linus's pronounciation of anyhow.

Guest

So I watched the recent Copper Tubing PC video on floatplane, and noticed Linus pronounces "anyhow" as "anyhou" or "anyhoe". He seems to do that more often recently, but in the 2 years I watch LTT, I can't remember him doing it before like a month ago.

So I'm wondering, is it like a joke, or is it how it is pronounced in Canada? He pronounces it a bit like people in England.

Thanks ;)

Yeah, before posting, I know this is the most useless post you have ever seen, but I'm just curious.

"Any-who" is just a fun way of saying it less than a regional dialect. I say it sometimes. Stuff like "z" and "zedd" being used interchangeably by him is what makes linus canuck trash.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

It's not just a Canadian thing. I live deep in the southern U.S. and it's quite common to use "anywho", especially among the older generations.

Any-who is just a quirk some people say when they are in a silly mood.

Or simply don't care, know better etc...

How I say some words piss off a lot of people, and I enjoy doing it ?

Well the thing with Linus is, well besides the silly facial expressions for the thumbnail for the video, is that there is acting involved when he is in front of the camera. There are examples everywhere, moving a box and grunting and moaning when really come on, sliding a box on the ground, oh it was bad. The guy on American Pickers does the same thing, you can tell when its real and when its fake and acting.

What needs to happen is Linus should pay for an acting coach to come in and just give the basics on acting and the team can work on those skills in the upcoming videos. His eyebrows used to move up and down a lot when he speaks, I am sure they still do but other times he talks his eyebrows do not move at all, not quite sure what that is. Of course the itchy privates is fun to watch ;) moving something down there ;) LOL

I studied him when I was trying to learn human behavior.

Yeah, before posting, I know this is the most useless post you have ever seen, but I'm just curious.

Note: I haven't watched the video in question.

He's almost certainly saying "Anywho", which is just an informal variant on "Anyhow" - it might be a Canadian thing, but I've seen Americans say it too, so, take that as you will.
