Worth to change from AMD 5 2600 to Intel i5 8600

I just bought a AMD Ryzen 5 2600 with a MSI B450I Gaming Plus AC.

Well, I have a GTX 1070 and all the rest of my setup, is it worth to change with a cost of almost 200€ to Intel i5 8600 with a high end board?

Thanks!

You found a motherboard and the i5 for 200 euros? Anyways the answer is no.

Why on earth would you do that for maybe 10-15% more performance in a few games? Not to mention the loss in multi-threaded performance

Is your display even 144hz? or is it just a 1080p 60hz display?

probably just OC your 2600 to about 4.2ghz and call it a day

I just happened to see it on the right side-bar when you posted it, lol.

More directly, there's almost no games that could tease out the subtle difference between the two CPUs on a 1070. And you'd be better served selling the 1070 and buying a 1080 for the cost difference.

I agree with the others. Since you already bought your Ryzen, just stick with it and overclock it to the best of your ability. Although the numbers of FPS will be lower, it would be pretty difficult for you to tell the difference if you were to have an i5 8600, since the frames would already be pretty high for both.

Would it be smart to go for a RTX 2070?

Good that u brought that up because u gave me a nice idea!

turn it up to 4.1, the 8600 might be a downgrade in some games.

Then I have to change the cooling, because I get dangerous values if I use more then 3.9Ghz and with closed case.

U see, Im using a Node 202, so, I got 91ºC on the CPU after 30 min of ghost recon, now with open case I get 68ºC at 3.9GHz.

If you can get one for a reasonable price, sure. The differences between the Intel & AMD, for gaming, really take a 1080 Ti and 1080p high-refresh gaming to truly tease out. And that's mostly a clocks issue. Even then, except for a few specific Source Engine games, the difference is under 10% between best clocked AMD and Intel parts. This is why Ryzen is such a good suggestion unless you're spending at least 600USD on a GPU and playing at high refresh rates. 4K could be run a i3 without too much issue.

True.

I saw reviews that the Ryzen 2600 at 4.2GHz can get more FPS then a i5 8500.

So, I can sell or try to sell my GTX 1070 for 320€ since its almost 1 month old, then go to a RTX 2070 that costs 540€... so its 220€ more... in my counts.

Is it worth?

The 2070 is extremely similar to the 1080, but, if you want it, it's a high-end GPU that'll last a good number of years. You might want to poke around to see if any used 1080 Tis are about for the same price, but local prices are local prices.

2070 is essentially equal to a 1080 in terms of fps in games. Thats a REALLY bad investment in my opinion, as the 1070 is anywhere from 70-80% of the performance of a 1080/2070 anyways. Odds are, you couldn't tell the difference if you had two identical computers with the only difference being the GPU. I'd say save your money but if you really feel like you need 140 fps instead of 110 fps, then go for it. Unless you have a 4k or a 1440p 144hz monitor, there's no good reason to do it.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

There will always be something a little bit better out there. Unless you're a billionaire, that's a reality you have to accept. Be happy with what you have, instead of constantly throwing away money for a nominal improvement.

True. But I see that the RTX 2070 is 100€ more then the GTX 1080 so... Have to do a good thinking there, I already closed my minde thanks to u and others of the CPU.

I like high FPS, i know many gona say "u can´t see more then 60 FPS" but I can, thats a opinion ofc. I play alote demanding games and I wanna a future proof pc so that I dont need to touch it again for a long time!
