What's wrong with the AMD Wraith Coolers?

So I've seen in some threads about Ryzen overclocking saying that the stock cooler isn't very good & to upgrade, and whenever I see that I think "WTF, I thought the wraith coolers that come stock with Ryzen CPUs were good, at least they can be used for some OCing unlike the junk Intel stock coolers, if included", so is there a problem with the wraith coolers? Does people see "stock cooler" and instantly think of Intel coolers, or are wraith coolers junk like Intel? Yes I know that aftermarket coolers are better, but why jump to suggesting to upgrade to a aftermarket cooler right off the bat instead of starting with the wraith cooler?

Wraith is awesome, even wraith stealth. Those people are crazy.

they do the work, they aren't just as good as a aftermarket so you'll either get higher temps or more unstable OC. If you can buy a aftermarket, if not do it with the stock cooler knowing it's ok, not great.

The same reason why you want to not cheap out on a mobo when you OC, sure cheaper boards can do it, still not ideal.

Those people are just talking out their ass. AMD has had the stock cooler game on lock for quite a while now. Even the 8320/8350's was good aside from that fan, case in point is the re-tool my sister has that basically is the same heatsink with a better fan.

I think they work great. If you are going to overclock it a lot you might want something else but for a stock cooler they are pretty amazing.

Wraith is an excellent cooler and the only people who would say they aren't are Intel fanboys and people who just assume stock coolers are bad because they buy Intel. If you want to do some good overclocking (ex. my Ryzen 1700 @4ghz) you'll want an aftermarket cooler, but beyond that you don't really need it.

They are decent as stock coolers go, but whether they are good for you depends on how hot your environment is.

They're pretty amazing for a stock cooler tbh, just don't expect it to be a Noctua NH-D14

AMD cut down the size of the bundled cooler with some of its 2000 series CPUs.

 

The stock cooler that comes with the 2600 is more Intel-size. At stock it will not give sustained maximum turbo and will thermally limit.
